Yes, completely fresh install, I'm definitely no noob as regards software testing. It crashed and crashed fatal.

World Browser owns this category in my opinion.

There's still lots of negative feedback from the official forum.

Thats a shame really because the program itself had a long beta and alot of builds were released...are we to assume that there will be a new build soon then? to fix the fixes...

I've updated from RC4 on both my home and work pc, the memory usage with 6 tabs open is 71,000+ on Vista Home Premium x64. I will see what it is on my work pc tomorrow (xp service pack 2)

At work with 6 tabs open the memory usage is 22,000+

I don't get it. How are these possible?

Smart Acceleration

Multi-Thread UI Technology

Flash Back and Forward

It is still using IE as main engine. No flaming here, but how can a frontend avoid locking up or speeding up the core engine underneath? I'm just curious, that are these just marketing BSs or there is a way to fine tune IE this much?

Uh..Firefox didn't do it first.

back on topic: i'll have to update my Maxthon at home. i like to use Maxthon instead if IE whenever i have to use IE just because of the many features that it offers.

That browser lost all credibility when they spammed neowin with fake glowing reports to get everyone to use it.

I really dont like it. Uses ALOT of memory, even more than firefox (and thats much to say) and looks like IE7.

So late to an interface that have been used for months, and worse, uses many resource to do NOTHING (well, at least thats what we knows by now, heh, probably has some "extras" features (that we wont like to hear that even exists :p)).

Back to 1.x or better to opera/firefox that are a lot better and they are not frontends (who needs makeups anyways?)

Personally, I have gotten too used to Firefox these days. Adblock Plus alone seems to be more powerful than Maxthon's Ad Hunter.

Shame nobody could port it. And yes, I agree, something has to be done about the crashes that take out your settings. :| I really also home somebody eventually adds a Userscript plugin for this, like IE7Pro, or a least, support IE7Pro within Maxthon. :p

Basically, Maxthon doesn't modify anything with the engine itself AFAIK, it has an internal proxy that controls what will be shown and how it will be, this proxy is being used in almost every feature that makes the engine better (security updates, acceleration..etc), the acceleration feature make full use of IE cache while trying to avoid fully cached pages, some sort of what Opera does, the Flash back and forward simply opens a fully cached page of the previous/next page without loading the page again.

The multi-thread UI has nothing to do with the engine, Maxthon simply opens each tab in a new thread of the process, making it possible to avoid freezing of the whole application If a tab hanged.

I'm sorry to hear that, But would you please copy the text inside the about dialog and post it here? (your email is included in the log so remove it If you want) BTW, minimizing Maxthon decreases memory usage greatly.

And about the looks like IE7 comment, Right click on any toolbar, click customize, While the dialog is opened you can drag and drop anything in the interface to any place (even the menus) and you can right click any button to change its look or icon, It's exactly the same way you can customize office 2003.

For an Adblock plus clone, you can use the sitelistupdater plugin that updates the ad hunter rules with AdBlock's lists, there is also a plugin available that allows you to use user scripts, but the developer left the project long time ago, it still works though.

Do you have a clean installation? You may also turn off the multi-thread option : Maxthon Setup Center > Advanced > open each new tab in a separate thread
