semifamous
Firefox 2.0.0.5 Microsoft Office Front Page 2003 Start -> Set Program Access and Defaults -> Custom -> "Mozilla Firefox" is not an option. I think this is the root of the problem. Firefox -> Tools -> Options -> "Set as default browser" works, but then... Front Page -> Tools -> Server -> Administration -> error message "A World Wide Web browser, such as Microsoft Internet Explorer, is required to use this feature." This only happens if Firefox is the default browser. When IE is the default browser, I can launch the Administration page. When I set Firefox as the default again, I can't anymore. I don't have to use it often, but unfortunately, many of our customers use Front Page and I need to be able to add/edit/delete users for those domains. It's quite a hassle to go the long way every time I have to do something in FP. So the question is this: Why doesn't Windows XP see Firefox as an available default browser? How do I fix that? Salgoth
Start -> Set Program Access and Defaults -> Custom -> "Mozilla Firefox" is not an option. I think this is the root of the problem. Not to assume you're stupid, but did you check "Use my current Web browser" and also "Enable access to this program"? Then hit "OK" at the bottom? semifamous
Checking "Use my current web browser" doesn't actually do anything because it assumes you don't want to change your browser settings. That won't make any change to the system at all. And there is no "Enable Access to this program" for Firefox because Firefox doesn't show up in the list. Salgoth
You didn't answer the question. I have FF set in the Tools > Options > System Defaults checked to be my default browser. I also have "Use my current Web browser" and also "Enable access to this program" check ed as well. Nothing on my system ever opens IE - which indicates that XP considers FF the default browser. Since no one else has chimed in on this thread I'm thinking your problem is unique. semifamous
I did too answer the question, but I'll use a picture instead. Where should I check the box that says "Enable access to this program"? I'm a bit slow... I just noticed that my default email client (Thunderbird) also doesn't show up in that list as an option. Salgoth
I'm at a loss. Have you tried setting FF to check that it is the default browser, then UNCHECKING the boxes next to IE and Safari, then restarting your computer? Try that - but if it fails I think the only explanation may be MS failing to release the APIs so FF can appear in that list. We know MS isn't too happy with FF popularity - especially throughout Europe.
