The Ultimate Splinter Cell Thread

Recommended Posts

I think its awesome that this amazing game is coming to the PS2 and Gamecube with additional levels not found in the XBOX version in March 2003. :D

Here is the article:

Spinter Cell is on it's way!

It's been rumored, suggested and put into thought but today Ubi Soft announced it for both PS2 and Gamecube!

Think that's good news on it's own? There's more. Not only did Ubi Soft announce they will release Tom Clancy's Spinter Cell in March 2003 but both PS2 and GC versions will have additional levels not found in the Xbox version.

well seeing as how you can download (or will be able to) new missions on Live. i think what they mean is that the actual disk product will contain more missions compared to the xbox. but with the xbox being able to dl new missions, then i think it will still have more.

Hey dazzla, how did you do that split ....

Mentioned by snoop on MSFN:

1. Changing Movement Speed:

-Go into "Settings" and look for "ZoomIn/Accelerate"

and "ZoomOut/Decelerate" under the crouch

configuration. Mine is set to the middle mouse scroll

button, so when I want to run faster I move the scroll

button forward, and when I want to slow down, I move

the scroll button backward. This changes your upright

as well as stealth movement speed.

2. Rolling:

-First, increase your movement speed (refer to previous

instruction if you don't know how). If you want to

roll while in an upright position, run forward and hold

your crouch key for a short period of time, until you

begin rolling. The same is true for rolling from a

"Stealth Position". While crouched over move forward

and hold the crouch key for a short period of time

until you begin your roll.

3. Wall Jump:

-Stand next to a wall and face forward. Make sure your

body is perpendicular to the wall. Then, jump upward

with the jump key and wait until you are at the

maximum height of your jump, and tap your jump key

again.

4. Split Jump:

-First you have to repeat the steps of the Wall Jump,

but with one slight adjustment. Instead of tapping

your jump key as you gain maximum height on your first

vertical jump, hold your jump key until your Split Jump

is completed.

5. Drop Attack:

-Get into the split jump position and wait until an

enemy walks under you. Then tap your jump key again

to drop onto them, which knocks them unconscious.

6. Quiet Landing:

-Drop from your Split Jump by tapping your jump key

but hold down your Crouch Key until you hit the ground.

7. Door Peek:

-Move to a door and hold down your Interact Key instead

of just releasing it. The game will pause somewhat as

long as you are holding down the Interact key. Then,

with the key being held down tap your backwards

movement key until you see "Open Door Stealth"

highlighted. Then release the interact key and you

crack the door to peek in.

8. Split Jump Shooting:

-Get into Split Jump position and tap your draw weapon

key.

9. Hanging Shooting:

-Same as above but hang from a pipe instead of the split

jump.

10. Back to Wall Shooting:

-Press your back to the wall key and move towards a

corner. Hold the movement key that moves you in

the direction of the open hallway/room. Then draw

your weapon (while holding your movement key).

11. Hostage Taking:

-Sneak up behind an unsuspecting baddie until you see

the "Grab Character" option. Then simply hit your

interact button.

12. Body Shield:

-First take a character hostage like above, and while

you are holding the character hit your draw weapon

key. This uses the person you have as a hostage

like a shield while you can shoot at any other enemies

in sight.

13. Moving Bodies:

-Move up to an unconscious body until you see the

interact option, then tap the interact key to pick the

body up. Tap the interact key again to drop the body.

Hm... well from my opinion, the keyboard and mouse combo is working really really well - feels so natural! :)

I had to seriously reshuffle the keys around but got it just right now.

Hammering ps2?

There are far more ps2 owners than xbox owners. Ubisoft is smart to make it on ps2 because they will gain a big profit.MGS2 had nice graphics so i don't see why Splinter Cell wouldn't be the same.Doesn't really matter that much. I hope that Squaresoft won't make any final fantasy games for you xbox fanboys

Calm down..he was stating his opinion..no need to cry..there will always be people who disagree with you...lets not turn this into a console war thread..

I guarantee you haven't even played most of the final fantasy's. You haven't even tried FFX or FFXIi bet. Voices and emotions of the characters make the game complete. This Fable you speak of, Is not anything like FFX or FFXI. Completely different games. Next time try to find a game out of your xbox game selection that has the same aspect as FFX.Not gonna start another flame war as it is getting off topic the end

As for Splinter Cell, it's a good game and should be brought to all consoles. We brought MGS2 for you xbox users and you bring us Splinter Cell :D. PS2 might not be able to do some special effects but it's the gameplay that matters most of every game.

WOW! Are you comparing the graphics and physics of Splinter Cell to MGS2?

Enough said.

Porting this game to other consoles will not please 2 crowds. The crowd that always claims "I have a PC, why do I need an XBOX" because as many have stated all consoles are specialized PCs, and this proves that a lot more PC games will be coming to ALL consoles, and will just look better on one console.

The other crowd is the one that doubts the superiority of the XBOX. This will prove that games DESIGNED with XBOX/PC in mind blow apart any ports to any other console. But on the other hand games designed for PS2/GC, when ported to XBOX still maintain the same lower quality.

The End.

P.S. I believe porting Splinter Cell to other consoles is actually a good thing for the XBOX, because my friends love playing the game, and I want to see their reaction when they buy the PS2 version and it isn't exactly the same. =)

TBH: MGS's enemy animations blow those of splinter cell into smitherines, although snake sucks compared to sam. Although sam looks like buzz lightyear a little

Anyway...

FLASH: That time of the month is it?

I never said anything about xbox hammering ps2, I said Xbox rocks, and I said all non 'Only On Xbox' games will arrive on ps2, so yeah, I think you have pmt.

As for the Final Fantasy debate, I have played almost ALL OF THEM, bar 1+2, FF7 being my favorite, after that they bagan to suck donkey balls, 9 was ok but god, 10 sucked.

whatever, PS2 wouldn't be able to handle it, it rocks on xbox and thats what its ment for. I could see it going to cube but if they actually release on ps2 it will be SO god awful.

hmm...yeah- I don't see the PS2 being able to handle all of the shadow effects. Some special effects are gonna have to be cut out. Also, the ps2 has only 8megs of texture memory, so don't expect it to look as good. It would be just like MGS2 (GREAT GAME!!!), great gameplay, but nothing spectacular for grafix.

This is old news - Splinter Cell has always been coming to GCN and PS2, but it had an exclusivity period on Xbox that is now ending - similiar to Dead to Rights.

Exactly, I read in an xbox mag out of all places that it was coming to the PC, GC, and PS2. This was a couple months back and it had an April release stated for GC and PS2 and a December release for the PC (which we all know has been pushed back to January.) Anyways, surprising others didnt know about this back in October / November.

HA...that's so funny I forgot to laugh...

Splinter Cell has always been planned for all 3 consoles (it was shown on all 3 consoles @ E3 2002.) It would be nice if all the Xbox fanboys would give the PS2 & Cube some credit. We all know that the PS2 will most likely be graphically inferior, but the Cube version will most likey look very similar to the Xbox version. The Cube is capabile of quite a bit just look @ Metroid Prime, Zelda & Star Fox Adventures...

lmao! That is so funny! I agree with jago. PS2 will probaby get a graphically inferior port, we'll have to see what the gamecube can do :). One thing though: Anyone remember a game called "Wreckless"? It is an awesome game that is excellent visually and quite fun too...the ports to gamecube and ps2 were horrible..they opted to increase the framerate from 30 to 60..while toninf down the graphics..perhaps it was a money deal with MS..
