MasterC
I kinda like this, but one thing is really bothering me. Safari is eating CPU like no other when I have Neowin open. It jumps anywhere from 10% to 180%. It doesn't happen on other sites, and it didn't happen yesterday before the change. :/

Corris Veteran Posted July 30, 2007 Veteran Share Posted July 30, 2007 i wonder if it was intentional but when i click on one of the thread titles in that new updater section at the top, it takes me to the first post in the thread, not to the last post or the last post i saw. was that intentional ?i wonder if it was intentional but when i click on one of the thread titles in that new updater section at the top, it takes me to the first post in the thread, not to the last post or the last post i saw. was that intentional ? Click the "Last by" link, that gets the new post instead of the topic title.

Guest
Nice Feature :). I'm getting a bit of a lag sometimes when scrolling, I take it happens when it updates. Mozilla Firefox 2.0.0.5.

Fred Derf Veteran Posted July 31, 2007 Veteran Share Posted July 31, 2007 well thats like 3 times now in the middle of response -- an page goes white trying to load page, etc.. Due to the autoupdate of this I would assume. I have the new "Recent Forum Posts" header minimized (using the +/- button) and I haven't had any issues. When I want to see the recent forum posts, I simply press the "New" link: https://www.neowin.net/forum/index.php?act=...amp;CODE=getnew That way I get an entire page of recent forum posts. I don't really understand the obsession of seeing them while you post. I don't mind the drop down menu links but the live updating header is a bit much for me. Luckily it is easy to minimize. Very intentional, I should think. If you click a thread title in the forums, it takes you to the first post in that thread also, does it not? Chode
I know people worked hard on it, but I have to be completely honest. It is butt ugly, and IMO really detracts from the look of the forum.
Simon Veteran Posted July 31, 2007 Veteran Share Posted July 31, 2007 I know people worked hard on it, but I have to be completely honest. It is butt ugly, and IMO really detracts from the look of the forum. It's definitely a step up design-wise, and definitely revolutionary compared to the functionality of the old one, but everything is too repetitive in this style. What was wrong with the red/blue area on the old main page?
+unabatedshagie Subscriber¹ Posted July 31, 2007 Subscriber¹ Share Posted July 31, 2007 It's making my firefox hang alot. :( I just wish there was an option to turn it off not just hide it.
Fred Derf Veteran Posted July 31, 2007 Veteran Share Posted July 31, 2007 It's making my firefox hang alot. :( I just wish there was an option to turn it off not just hide it. It doesn't seem to do anything when it is "hidden". When it is minimized, I don't notice any internet activity like when it tries to update the list of recent posts. The +/- button seems to completely disable it. You can also disable the drop down menus if you want.

Redmak Administrators Posted July 31, 2007 Administrators Share Posted July 31, 2007 If your system is lagging or producing errors, either stop the automatic updates (by clicking the 'stop' link) or completely hide the recents bit (by clicking the - icon).
