ride365
My dilemna is that I am a first time cable subscriber and want to get set-up with digital cable. I don't have a HDTV but I am possibly looking to get a HD box so I would be set, should I decide to get a new tv in the near future. The following options are avaliable in my area: 1) A refurbished DCT for $98 (Direct from SHAW) 2) Future Shop: new DCT for $228?, a new HD DCT for $258(w/prog credit) or new HD PVR for $558(w/prog credit). I am also unclear as to whether or not you get the full program credit with basic Digital Cable. If you were me which option would you pick. I am looking to get the best deal possible obviously. Are there any first time subscriber promos or other features not advertised (other than sat. trade in) ? I live in Kelowna, BC Canada. It becomes quite pricey especially if there is a new model in 2 years and you only get $100 against a $558 dollar PVR. Would I be best to wait to get a HDTV and throw out the refurbished $100 box or just spend the money and get a new one? What's the likelyhood that it will become outdated in the next couple of years. (Both HD have HDMI inputs and support up to 1080i. Here is the link to the Shaw hardware page... if you could please take a look. http://www.shaw.ca/en-ca/ProductsServices/...al/Hardware.htm Thanks
