Firefox not opening some .php pages

Recommended Posts

I have had trouble with this one. Firefox will sometimes ask me what to open certain PHP pages with. If i tell it FF, it then asks me again. If i tell it PHP then I get a blank page. I've tried uninstalling both FF and PHP and reinstalling but nothing. Neowin works fine yet DeviantArt will give me trouble sometimes, while other sites just dont work. Googling the problem wasn't much help either.

I'm using FF2.0.0.5 on XP Pro and I have PHP 5.1 installed as well.

Any ideas?

php is code that runs server side meaning it has nothing to do with your browser and you don't need php installed to view php files. When a html file gets sent to you your browser renders it when a php file the server runs all the php code then you get sent the resulting data along with htmls Are you trying to view a php file you downloaded? What sites don't work?

Thanks to you both for replying. I occasionally will play with PHP that is why it is installed. I visit Digg a lot and some of the links I click there will send me to a page that firefox seems to having trouble opening. I get the download prompt that asks if you want open it with an app or save it. IE7 and Opera will display the pages fine. I apollogize for not providing a link to a troublesome page. I guess I'll need to bump this thread later when I find another one.

This sometimes happens to me as well but only if there is a ? after the .php like:

www.site.com/index.php?hello

Its probabbly a Firefox bug.

I haven't had it happen to me in a long long time and I'm here a lot. Last time it happened to me was a freak thing and was because of load on the site. So it was a server side error. But it wasn't on here it was on another site. And like I said it was only a one time freak thing. I think it was a site that I visited from digg that was getting hammered at the time.
