Jonathan Downin
I am looking for a way to purchase Bioshock on Steam but I am currently in Japan. I am trying to use a U.S. credit card but I get denied every time because steam identifies my computer as being out of the U.S. Any suggestion on how to get around this? Any suggestions would be helpful.
Leo Natan
Use a US proxy (you need Socks5 proxy). Confirmed to work. Set the IE settings to use that proxy, then purchase it in Steam.

Leo Natan
You find a proxy, then go to IE settings, and put all the settings of the proxy (like IP, port, etc) there.
McSmiggins
If you're buying the PC version, keep an eye out for the securom, 2 activations and that's it for retail, but you can get them back in Steam http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/show...ad.php?t=589874 But damn what a mess. Jonathan Downin
Ok, I understand, but I can't find any proxies that seem to work. A lot of the proxies I have tried load pages in IE but in steam when accessing the store it can't connect to the store page. Any help with a proxie that will work? toadeater
You find a proxy, then go to IE settings, and put all the settings of the proxy (like IP, port, etc) there. That's only for web browsing through IE. You need a program which redirects the ports STEAM uses, like this: http://www.freecap.ru/eng/?p=whatis I haven't tried that particular one, just an example. Google "Steam socks5".

Vista
I have a solution that works. I tried it myself on Steam and also on a lot of other US-only applications and websites. There is a program called Hotspot Shield. It's used to protect laptops, etc that are used outside (using wifi). This software also works on the PC. You need to install and enable it and after that it should work. Your internet connection will slow down drastically when you enable this, because everything is being rerouted. But after closing it down, everything is back to normal. http://anchorfree.com/hotspot-shield-download.php If you need help with the software, post it here.
