Grand Maester
I have installed IE7 on a laptop but after installation I can't find it. There's no shortcut on the desktop and when I go into the program file there is no program there either. I know it's installed because a couple programs have launched it automatically, but I can't figure out how to launch it on my own. I tried reinstalling it which didn't change anything and I know there should be an icon on the desktop because when I installed it on another computer it created one. It also doesn't appear under add/remove programs. What gives?
dr.bisho
before you do anything , go to c:/ prog files/ internet explorer.... se if anything exist, get a shorcut if you find it, not so open ad/remove program, open add/remove windows compenents, check for internet explorer, remove it, then ok , reboot if you wnat, open again, tick it, insert windows cd back and you get your Ie6 again want ie7, althought not an advise, get opera or ff, but if you insist, get the module installation for MS website, try to install now :p

Slim ManDjango
tried creating a shortcut to "iexplore"? I'm having the exact same problem on my PC. I did a search for .exe files and "iexplore" was one of them, however, when I opened it it was clearly IE6, despite being in a folder called Internet Explorer 7 (or the like). I then tried reinstalling, restarting, etc but to no avail. In the About window of the program it said IE7! Before completely losing my sanity I found that when I hovered over "iexplore" it said file version 6.0. In its Tools menu I hit Windows Update, and it opened the link in the real IE7! This proves that the program exists and is the default browser, but I can't find the .exe file to create a shortcut to it. I'm using it now and have been opening it via Favorites in my Start menu. Nevertheless can anyone tell me if there's a way I can find the .exe so I can create a desktop shortcut to it?
Slim ManDjango
Wondering around this site a bit more, I found exactly what I was looking for. Under 'software' I found Process Explorer. It can replace Task Manager if you ask it to (so it responds to Cntrl+Alt+Delete), and has (as far as I can tell) everything that Task Manager has and more. If you can get another program to open IE7 somehow (like you said had happened before) attempt the following: 1. Download the program ( http://download.sysinternals.com/Files/ProcessExplorer.zip ) 2. Once in it, right-click on "iexplore" and click "Properties." 3. Here you'll see the path to the program. Mine was C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe (which is bizarre for me because it never came up when I did a search). 4. Copy the path. 5. Go to your desktop, right-click and select "New" > "Shortcut" 6. It will ask you to type in the path. Press Cntrl+V to paste the path you copied. After this you should be able to see the IE7 logo and be able to access it from here. Good luck and I hope it works!
