hymneforthedead
so as the topic title reads, I was doing a su>gedit on my source files list for auto update and I accidentally had everything saved AFTER I deleted everything.I'm using debian linux 4.0 etch. so I was wondering if someone could post a source list that would help me out here and throw me back into gear..... I want to get into software development for Nix, (either debian or slack), but right now I'm just interested in maintaining my disctro. from "apt-get updates" Any help would be appricated. :pinch: -Hymneforthedead

h3xis
Linux should automatically make a backup of files you change. Check to see if you have a sources.list~ The post above contains repos for testing. You obviously run etch, which is stable, so that isn't for you. Here is a sources.list that should work for you: deb http://mirrors.kernel.org/debian/ stable main contrib non-free deb-src http://mirrors.kernel.org/debian/ stable main contrib non-free deb http://security.debian.org/ stable/updates main contrib non-free deb-src http://security.debian.org/ stable/updates main contrib non-free #Marillat deb http://www.debian-multimedia.org stable main Edited August 24, 2007 by h3xis

markwolfe Veteran Posted August 25, 2007 Veteran Share Posted August 25, 2007 Note that not all editors will make an auto-backup. Glad yours did!
