Need Help: Registry Goof on Vista Home

Recommended Posts

SO, I was hacking my new Vista install and trying to remove the ugly shortcut arrows on the desktop icons by using the registry editor in the method described here. The problem is when I did that, something wierd happened to some other icons and shortcuts so I deleted the modifications made to the registry to try and get it back to Vistas defaults but I can't find the default Vista registry settings for:

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\lnkfile

Is it possible I could get one of you guys with a fresh (non-tampered) install to open up your regedit and grab me a screenie of these defaults (or a text copy of the values that I can save to a .reg file and merge)

And when are those idiots at Microsoft going to learn to make this an option from the get go?! It seems to be the first hack in every single Windows release.

Thanks guys.
