semifamous
The box on the right that switches between headlines and a news article about Swift was cooler in the past. It'd be cool if we could do these things again: 1. Switch from one to the other manually. 2. Lock it so it stops switching. (It would also be cool to be able to do this with the line above that box too with blog posts and stuff.) Also, the current Swift news article doesn't fit in the box on my screen. Shift Linux is a project that was created by the Neowin community. Based on Morphix Linux, Shift is Debian based, therefore it has access to all of the software and applications as other Debian distributions.Neowin's Shift Linux is designed to give the user an experience of being part of the Neowin community as well as having a simple, easy-to-use Live CD that can be installed to your hard drive, if you enjoy the way our distribution works. semifamous
So I'm reading through the list of news on the front page today in that little box up at the top, and I go up and middle-click on one of the links, and start to move down to the next one, but before I can get there, the screen changes. What would be cool is if we could get the feature back that let us manually change from one page to another so that I don't have to wait I was just hoping now that the "Stop" button might make it stay on one page, but it doesn't. It just stops it from updating that content. There used to be buttons to control that section so that one could switch between the two pages at will. Getting that back would be cool. We removed those buttons as that top area was rather cluttered and most people didnt have a clue what they meant.

Yes, if we want to return to that level of control then I suggest we integrate some sort of preferences panel for the advanced users who want to customize their front page view. I was not a fan of the multitude of unlabelled buttons that performed mystery tasks. Everyone other than daily visitors just ended up going "WTF?" (f=flower). :D At least a preferences panel could spell out what each option does in plain english. Edit: There is a "My Preferences" item now but it only seems to allow you to enter custom links. I think skin changes and all sorts of stuff could be moved there.
