Why should one need to familiarize oneself with XHTML?

sgml - dunno, ? ? markup langauge

html - hypertext markup language, tag based code, very simplistic

xml - extensible markup language or something like that, nice structured way to store data, sorta like a database

xhtml - cross between xhtml & html, html with good formatting

dtd - docuemtn type definition, something to do with how xml is desplayed i think

namespace - some xml thing

semantic web space - dunno

SGML: Standard Generalized Markup Language, if I remember it is the code that web pages are encoded in (just like HTML) to be viewed by WAP (Wireless Aplication Protocol) enabled mobile phones.
