aquadark
Hey guys... I have some issues with IE7, ever since its first installment. The browser would randomly start to act weird. In most cases this means unable to open multiple new tabs (the last newly opened tab would freeze on "Connecting..." and the browser won't open another one). Right-click menus would refuse to show-up, opening a new browser window would slow down the entire PC and eventually crash the app. Now the strange thing is that, if I close another program which is active ATM (for example Winamp, Skype, mIRC, etc.), everything is returned back to normal. The links I've clicked would load into new tabs, the right-click menus would work again and so on. Another thing that happens from time to time is what I call "tabs overflow". Basically, the browser starts opening new tabs one after the other on its own, non-stop (untill I end the process or the memory is full). And very often, if I have multiple tabs opened, the browser would crash and the buttons would turn white on mouse rollover. Could this be RAM-related? Because this happenes even immediately after Windows reinstallation (+ updates), with no special drivers or software installed (which could be generating some software conflicts). Thanks in advance for the ideas...
JRosenfeld
Have you tried to see if the problems disappear if you run IE with no addons? Many (though not all) malfunctions with IE are caused by one or other incompatible addon. You can test this: IE 7 (no addons) shortcut should be in the system tools folder; or click start, run, type iexplore.exe -extoff [note space between e and -] click OK ot press enter. If the problems no longer occur, you can renable addons in batches until the problem recurs, thus identifying the one causing the problem. To manage addons, with IE closed, Control panel, internet options, programs tab, manage addons. If it is not an addon causing the problem, try, in IE, tools, Internet options, advanced tab, click reset. This will reset all the settings to their default values. Tom Swiss
Thanks. That's great to know that I can disable all IE addons with "iexplore -extoff" .

aquadark
So, the problem was either in Sun's Java or Adobe Acrobat (or both). I completely eradicated them from having anything to do with the browser and now it's just as fast as the instance without addons and it won't go FUBAR... go figure. Thanks for the suggestions again, I've solved my problem.
