Opera web page question

Recommended Posts

How can I alter Opera's options so that when I view a page, it is updated properly? Example...:

Say I view a forum right? And a particular topic has, for the sake of this, 100 replies at the time I view it. I post my reply, which makes it 101 replies total.

Currently, when I go to view that same page at a later time (in the same day), it will still say 100 replies. How can I change Opera's options so that it would read 101 replies?

I hope this made sense...

PS> Am using the latest Opera aplha version, 9562.

It also might depend on the forum. Some forums, such as Neowin, update the listing of replies/views less frequently to save on resources.

Even with that setting to always, Opera doesn't always do what he wants. To force it to update forums and the like (at the expense of losing instant back/forward functionality), do the following:

go to opera:config

Search for "navigation", you'll find History Navigation Mode under User Prefs.

The default is 1 (opera chooses to refresh the page or not automatically, sometimes it doesn't work and hence your problem), you can set 2 for always refreshing (what you want) and 3 (never refreshing, instant back/forward always, requires you to press reload more often).

So it seems to me you need to set it to 2. If you have it set to 3, try 1 first because it'll do what you want 80% of the time and still do instant back/forward when it's better.

edit: of course, if the forum is slow to update, it's not the browser's fault regardless of settings :-)
