It's mostly subjective how good a design is, but I give you my opinion: Try to avoid to use too much gradients and use hard contrasting colors. Most sites use a white background, the reason IMO is that it allows way more design capabilities, especially regarding color use.

It's....too...photoshop filterish. The logo design is something you should really worry about, because it is your identity and what people will know you for, and if you really want my opinion, if I was a client looking for web design, your site would probably be the last site I would go to. Not only that but "Web" and "design" do not go together, so then I would make judgements on your intelligence, You have to keep in mind of the client and customer at all times, but basically, this wouldn't call to my attention at all. I'm just telling you this now so you can think about it more, Tough love, my man.

I have to agree with bluerei and Tom Servo on this. Also if you are going to be doing web design, it might be a good idea to "code" valid HTML. Not many clients are wise enough to check for this, but it's still an important aspect to web design, especially if you want to be respected by your peers in the industry.

Here is the W3C Markup Validation results for your home page.

Hehe guys, calm down a bit,

This is just a test and at the moment I already have a new header, new navigation bar and new textbox

When Beta 2 is ready I'll post it and about the html coding, like I said final version will be cleaned up

Greets,

Joa

Heh, I don't think any of us weren't calm ;) You asked for everyone's opinion and we gave you some constructive criticism.

I also think you will find that coding properly now will save you some stress later. In addition I thought the versions up now was beta 2...

Ok Beta 2 is ready

i like the overall design of it. but i feel that the top pic and nav bar are a bit too big. you may be using a small ass resolution, but for the most part, people use 1024*768...so do you think you could minimize them a little?

It's looking better. A few things though...

  • The navigation text, as mentioned before, either needs to be larger or more distinguishable
  • The header/logo graphic still seems a bit too Photoshoped (as in generic). I would suggest a cleaner background image with a more defined logo.

If you are going to be serving both English and Dutch (really not sure here, sorry), you might want to think about doing specific versions for each (as opposed to having both languages on the same page).

Otherwise it seems to be coming together. Best of luck.

Once again for beta 2, read my post. The logo basically sucks and that is one of the most important thing you need to fix because it is how people will remember your company for all time, so fix it, go to other websites and get ideas, otherwise, you won't get many clients at all.

Ohh, and dont use those gradient bars, A flat type of surface would look best with it, remeber that simplicity is the way to go here, just make it clean, not pretty. It will make a huge difference in how people view your page.
