Unable to install JAVA runtime

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I have tried endless # of times but whenever i try to download/install Java, the installation thing starts and then almost within 20 seconds I get a dialog box with the following text:

This installation package could not be opened. Verify that the package exists and that you can access it, or contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer package.

Can you please help me out on this.

Thanks.

Perhaps you can try a registry cleaning tool or a utility program that has a registry cleaner/software uninstaller to remove the left over traces of the Java runtime. This should help you out and get rid of that message so you can re-install and repair your Java runtime installation

I too get this. I tried downloading direct and it complains about 'missing transforms' ... glad to see Sun and Microsoft getting on so well....
