Green-Tea
been using firefox for a long time, nothing wrong with it but I want to try something new, is IE 7 worth using? Has anyone have problems with it?
+Warwagon MVC Posted October 22, 2007 MVC Share Posted October 22, 2007 to answer that question, download spywareblaster and update it and then see what is located under the internet explorer section for what it protects you against and then look under the firefox section. draklin
Everyone needs to have at least 2 browsers. One primary that you use most of the time and one for special occasions. For me, FF (actually Minefield 3.0a9 nightly builds) is what i do most of my surfing in. However there are times when I need another browser to go to some sites (ie Microsoft.com) and for that I use IE7.
+Warwagon MVC Posted October 22, 2007 MVC Share Posted October 22, 2007 (edited) If you must use Internet explorer use it combination with www.sandboxie.com That would be the only way I would ever touch IE on my personal computer, then again even firefox is sanboxed best $20 i've ever spent, though you can use the free version, paid version lets you force firefox.exe so anytme firefox is opened it automaticly sandboxies it rather than having to use a special shortcut. Lingwo
I use Firefox mainly but i have IEtab installed so just in case a site requires IE, i can switch to IE on the fly.

Green-Tea
the IE section probobly has over 20,000 (or more, don't have an exact number )active X infectionswhile firefox just has tracking cookies but thats good since it protects all those right? raskren
but thats good since it protects all those right? That's the number of potentially malicious ActiveX controls. IE6 and IE7 do a fairly good job of blocking ActiveX by default and it takes several clicks to actually install one. That list doesn't mean IE7 is inherently insecure like you're making it out to be. +Warwagon MVC Posted October 22, 2007 MVC Share Posted October 22, 2007 but thats good since it protects all those right? Yes that is true, but I hate to think out many of them are out there that are not on that list, but yes you are correct, in that using this you are safer. Also the fact that IE7 prompts you be for the installation of an active X control, so thats good
mad_onion
i use ie7, i just like the standard interface of ie better. no huge icons at the top and no pointless menu bar. it saves so much space at the top of the screen where you need it and you end up with only the buttons you actually use. i know i can change the way firefox looks but why should i bother when ie already does everything i want it to straight away.
