Alex_is_Axel
using ff2 at the moment (2.0.0.11) however am looking forward to using ff3 once the official release has come out. I do however have IE7 on my system also but i only really use that when im checking my hotmail emails. I guess ive got too comfortable with firefox now to start using IE7 all the time? Either way i feel safer on firefox though even if statistics show otherwise :s
cork1958
I use IE6 and 7 all the time. No Spywareblaster or Spybot installed on any machines. Kind of a lie. I actually did get Spybot to work on 2 out of 7 machines. Newest version of that program sucks the big one anymore. Use SuperAntiSpyware instead. Both have real time protection, but I NEVER enable that. I DO NOT get infected either. One thing I definitely don't like about IE7 is not remembering username at sites I used to have that entered in automatically at. Don't and won't install Firefox on my machines. POS, IMO!! Do have Iceweasel and Bon Echo (Firefox derivatives) installed on my Linux partitions/distributions, but ONLY because they are default installs which practically own the OS as much as IE does Windows, otherwise, they'd probably be gone too. Usually use Seamonkey as my main browser.
IncidentFlux
Been using Opera since '99, and Opera USB at work. Only fall back to IE for my damn HSBC site.

Benjo85au
Used Firefox a couple of times to try it out. It's good, I just use IE. Used it since IE5 and never had a real issue. I use firefox at work though. Regardz :)

dud
I've used both extensively. I don't want to say why I switched to Firefox, though, because it will just encourage idiotic Firefox evangelists to do the childish crap that made me change in the first place. I like Firefox, but I think the people who support it with religious fervor are dunces who need to be institutionalized.
darkwing5736
I have always been a large IE Fan, but recently, I just find IE too slow and bulky. In vista, it sucks up resources like an SUV does gas...
Sam Symons Veteran Posted January 17, 2008 Veteran Share Posted January 17, 2008 I haven't used IE for a good two years. One question though...whenever I go to do a temporary file clean-up in TuneUp, why is the IE cache always so much bigger than my Firefox one? Ownerizer
I've pretty much been a Firefox user since Version 0.8... that was early 2004 or so. How time flies! But IE 7 is good, much better than IE 6. I have played around with it a decent amount. Much better standards support, although it does still have a ways to go before it passes Acid2. :-) However, I do think that tabbed browsing in IE 7 is a little slow compared to Firefox. I like the Quick Tabs feature where it shows all your tabs at once. But whenever I open a new tab in IE 7, it says "Connecting..." to about:blank and that takes a couple seconds -- don't know why it does that! spenser.d
I used FF for 2 years and switched to IE7 shorly after it was released. Haven't looked back since. -Spenser
Meyithi
Firefox here too. Whenever I do a fresh install I always try to use IE with either an ad blocking hosts file or something like privoxy, but by the time I've got the ads blocked I'm using more resources that I would be than using FF + ad-block plus. I tried IE7Pro last time around but it's ad filters still let lots through. I don't like having umpteen apps that do the same thing but in the case of IE/Firefox it can't be helped. rpgfan
If you're looking for a lightweight alternative to Firefox, consider K-Meleon or something. It has some Fx extensions integrated, like Console2, Mouse Gestures and others. It also has a lot of the advanced config up-front, just like Opera does. You can also turn off tabs (layers) if you want. It is heavily plugin-based, so you just turn off the plugin that you don't need! I installed this for a friend the other day after finding Firefox to be too slow (Windows 2000-era laptop running Windows XP, with no ethernet port). It was more like browsing is normally. :) Also, you can change the User-agent on the fly if you need to, just like you can with Konqueror or with the User-Agent Switcher add-on for Firefox. It really is a nice browser. I recommend it if you need something a bit lighter than Firefox, and you don't like Opera, etc.

Andre S. Veteran Posted March 5, 2008 Veteran Share Posted March 5, 2008 Generally I use Opera because I just found that awesome skin and it looks slick. A shame IE can't be skinned, a shame! I use IE7 for critical things like checking my bank account or credit card, buying stuff on eBay, submitting schoolwork, etc. I know it's gonna work whereas with Opera I've had issues, like not being able to complete a transaction on TigerDirect. There also are some sites that don't render correctly in opera, like the Galactic Civilization II forums and some other forums, Gamespot videos don't play for some reason, and sometimes Opera will take ages to start streaming a video when IE would do it in 3 seconds. Also I use Yahoo! Mail and when I start typing an address in IE7 I get a dropdown menu with matching contacts; this doesn't happen in Opera. Nitpicking. There's no perfect browser for me. SakuraKira
Everyone needs to have at least 2 browsers. One primary that you use most of the time and one for special occasions. For me, FF (actually Minefield 3.0a9 nightly builds) is what i do most of my surfing in. However there are times when I need another browser to go to some sites (ie Microsoft.com) and for that I use IE7. Same here.
mc cockface
Firefox 3.0b3 and proud. From a surfers point of view, I love having a browser I can heavily customize to my needs/tastes; I don't believe that one standard static package can ever cater for me well enough whilst trying to cater for everyone else. From a developers point of view, of course I'm swayed towards the browser which renders everything exactly how I code it, so yes that Firefox. I do use IE7 for testing of course so that my sites will look the same for those less fortunate. And yes I have used IE8, and I'm not very impressed with it's complacency either. All I have to say is, you IE users have no standards ;) get it?
zhangm Supervisor Posted March 9, 2008 Supervisor Share Posted March 9, 2008 It all started the day I reformatted my computer. I decided to wait a couple days for some annoying bugs in the latest Firefox nightlies to be resolved before I downloaded a copy for use. Someone borrowed my computer for surfing and asked where Firefox was. I told them that I was using IE7 for the moment. They said, "Internet Explorer? Ugggh!" I asked them what was wrong. They replied, "Firefox is just so much better!" "Why," I asked again. "Because." That was when I realized that Firefox was popular because a lot of idiots used it, and after the whole fruckus about "OS integration is a goal of FF3" and then "We won't implement Vista glass because no one uses Vista", complements to the FF devheads, I decided that there was no real reason for me to switch to Firefox again. IE7 browses webpages. It runs in Secure mode on Vista, and looks decent. It also can be extended with adblocking and flash blocking capabilities, mouse gestures, and FF elitism just isn't a good enough reason anymore. And for the record, I think that if you're actually proud of whatever program you use to browse the internet, you should really get a life. Unless you use links, then it is acceptable to wear a "I use links." shirt in public.

Mathachew Veteran Posted March 9, 2008 Veteran Share Posted March 9, 2008 If IE had the same extensibility that FF has, I would probably that instead of FF. IE8 is a step in the right direction, and I'm aware of extensions for IE, but they simply don't compare to FF (firebug, Web dev toolbar, ad-block are my list of essentials).
