mediator
Hi, I want to shape the traffic of a network. So I want to know which is the best traffic shaping software for Linux. Also please provide some details of it if you found it worthy. Recently I installed mastershaper 0.44 on fedora 7, but it is continously giving me errors. At first it was a graph error and something like "tc_collector.pl inactive" may be becoz I missed pear module. So I removed everything and started afresh. This time I installed everything fine. But now it is giving error "// -->" with nuthing else in display. I found shaper.class.php file to be the culprit and removed those tags, but then it gave all blank. Its not working! So basically I need to rectify this mastershaper problem or else try something else.
+BudMan MVC Posted October 23, 2007 MVC Share Posted October 23, 2007 So this box running fefora 7 is the router for your network? Or a bridge? You have the iproute2 package installed?
mediator
Hi Thanx for replying. I have iproute2 package installed. I have installed everything that is there in the documentation. Neways this fedora 7 is in bridged mode. http://www.mastershaper.org/index.php/Mast..._a_Linux-Bridge The error I think is related to php in 'shaper.class.php' in 'htdocs' directory from Mastershaper package. :)

pdog
Squid can be used as a traffic shaper, but I like to use pfSense, which uses the shaping system from the rock solid PF packer filter from OpenBSD. pfsense.org

We?re now using five of them for the wireless in our hotel guest rooms and meeting spaces and have largely ended customer complaints about Internet issues. We no longer get the phone calls telling us that the Internet is down or that it?s too slow. I don?t have any problems.
