What prompted you to switch to Firefox?

AdBlock Plus. Plain and simple. I was a pretty big IE fanboy before I found out about it.

As I kept using Firefox I started noticing a lot more that I liked about it, I think tab management works better than it does on IE7, as well as Bookmark/Download management.

Extensions (especially Adblock); almost zero security problems compared to the popup and virus fest IE became; tabs; themes; configurable GUI... I like my buttons on the right and with as little space used for the toolbars as possible.

Extensions mostly, I just liked how I could customise Firefox to how I liked it. Now while most of the browsers offer the same features now (and in some cases better features then Firefox) I still stuck with Firefox, mainly cause I'm used to it and comfortable with it :p

1. More secure.

2. Faster than the IE engine

3. Love the text before image priority loading

4. Mouse Gestures

5. Availability of add-ons

6. I support open source and try to substitute it for all the expensive softwares that i already own.

7. Anything that is not Microsoft is good for change.

8. Spell checker

9. Fast response from Mozilla team to fix security vulnerabilities

10. Periodic updates

What I would like to see in FirefoX 3.0?

Firefox being less of a memory hog.

  • 3 weeks later...

The ability to block ads. Mainly the kind that fly out in front of what you are doing.

Only after using it did I discover how awesome tabs, extensions, and other things are.

I will never go back to IE. I hate it.

building a website made me switch... I wanted to see what I coded and not having to screw around with workarounds for some basic things like <div> and css.
