Thanks! Those utilities look really good. I'll have to try them out and see how they run when I come home tonight from classes.

I just tried shock 4way 3d, and was surprised and how much faster it was than Deskspace. Shock 4way 3d blew away Deskspace in terms of speed (it does look worse, but the skybox was pretty cool + fast).

Shock4way also has many more options and "styles", such as the "inside cube" which is really nifty.

However, it took up to 70 megs of RAM for certain configs, with a minimum of about 50 megs that I was able to configure!!! Also, when it is not being used, the taskbar reparts shock 4way 3d to always be using "50%" of the CPU!!! (and i have a core 2 duo!)

Needless to say, I uninstalled it :/

My CPU usage is normal hovering near 0% all the time while running Aero3D and 4Way3D. Both are nice applications, but like mentioned do use a lot of RAM. Both are using around 20 MB each, so 40 MB in total. Not that bad as I do have RAM to spare. I am impressed with most of the features, except a few do have some annoying parts.

Good thing, don't notice it running so they don't get in the way except for the tray icons. 4Way3D allows you to hide it, but Aero3D doesn't which is annoying :).

Hmm.. that's weird cuz when I check the Taskmanager, it does report 50-70 MB *alone* for Shock4way3d (did not install Aero3D). Hmm, and it has the CPU stuck at 50%, literally (ie it doesn't seem switch between 50% and 0%, its stuck there like a constant number).

If I could get the numbers you are getting (only 20MB ram and ~0% CPU usage), I would definitely use it. The comp I ran it on was a Dell Dimension 9200 with Nvidia 7200 LE with Core 2 Duo 2 GHz with 1 GB of ram.

I'm not sure why it's like that, possibly it needs to stabilize?

I'm running it on an HP Pavilion dv8000 series laptop. The video card is only an ATi Xpress 200M and the CPU is only 1.8 GHz Turion (single core). I had to add 1 GB of RAM myself so it's at 1.2 GB of RAM. Not the most powerful machine by any means.

Ok, I just tried it again on another desktop I have (P4 1.6 Ghz, 1 GB ram with Geforce 5200).

It starts out at 20 MB ram, 0% CPU, then as I "cube rotate" for the first time to another desktop, it takes 30 MB ram, then another desktop, 40 MB ram, then I saw it peak to 50, but went back down to 40 MB ram and stays there.

At the end, it uses 0% CPU when idling. But this is for my single-core desktop (P4).
