Mass Effect Limited Collector's Edition, Mass Unboxing

On a rainy, dreary day that's atypically warm for a Midwest November afternoon, our doorbell rang for what we were sure to be another political petition or overzealous neighbor worried about the state of our gutters. But instead we received our Limited Collector's Edition review copy of Mass Effect. Here are the details:

MassEffectUnboxed

* Box is actually a rectangle

* Money Shot

* Wall plug cameo

* Game and DVD

The tin case is actually quite nice, with sharp, clean artwork. And we've decided that the 36-page Galactic Codex: Essentials is a must-read (translation: foreplay) before we start gaming later, but its bullet pointed format makes it less intimidating than a straight geek novel or something. The only thing that will seem out of place is the Battlestar Galactica ad, which probably makes no sense at all to those who haven't heard about the SCI FI promotional partnerships. But we can always use an extra shot of Number 6.

So who's ready for a space opera?

I really hate those styles of cases that have the DVD's on a floating piece of cardboard in the case similar to Gear of Wars. THink it'd be nice to just have a standard dvd sort of case with the 2nd dvd on a plastic bit that flips about, even if the case has to be a bit deeper than normal. What annoys me about the above is you always need to life out 2 or 3 things to get what you want out...find a normal DVD case easier in that regard.

Besides that it looks pretty cool. I don't think Aus getting it but I'm not THAT fussed, if anything they saved me money because I'd otherwise have bought it. That said, EB's using it to as an excuse to charge the full $120 or so on the standard edition last time I saw a price which is far too steep.

As long as the discs are easy to get out, the Halo 3 tin edtion its a damn nightmare, I feel I am going to break the disc every time I try to get it out!!! :blink:

Yeah I'm the same, Lost Planet CE is the worst one in my collection. Bioshock is another one. Cringe everytime I take them out the case :pinch:
