Xerus
The only issues I've had with the camera are the purple coin levels. Every other time I didn't have to adjust the camera at all, other than the occasional press of the C button. I thought it was placed perfectly in any given situation, and I didnt even know that the D-pad controlled the camera until I had 70 stars... :I

rajputwarrior
It definately doesn't derserve a 10. I think it should get an 8 or 9. There is some problems but they are easily over looked with the rest of the game holding up strong, but there is quite a lot of recycled ideas from Sunshine/ Mario 64. The game is still awesome though and I'm glad I never sold my Wii before getting the chance to play it. i would give it about a 9.3 mainly because sometimes the camera angle sucks and you can't control which sometimes makes walking upside down or swimming hard. And i agree about being glad i didn't sell my wii. and yes, the game is amazing!!! best game i have played in years.

I've found sometimes as well you can't move it behind Mario all the time either (pressing the C button), which is pretty annoying. If the game was a 10 it would be perfect and nothing could be changed, but there is problems and things that could be done better at the end of the day. 0sit0
Love the game! only problem like most of you have said its the camera but other than that its great! Edited November 19, 2007 by ozzieXP
Hooya
I think a lot of the problems with the camera were intentional things to make parts of the game more challenging. I mean think about it, if you could always position the camera in the perfect third person perspective, a lot of the levels would be boring and simple in how easy they are. Part of the challenge for some sections is dealing with bizarre and disorienting perspectives. Think about that!
oldaccount1
Good point, Hooya. This game is FANTASTIC. Definitely reminds me of the great gameplay that Super Mario 64 had.

EcPercy
I don't have a system, I tried at Gamestop. I tried playing the Wii at gamestop. It's almost impossible to play on their demo as the screen is just too small. I was testing Corruption and if you moved the remote like 2" you were off the screen. I think the demo unit had like a 13" screen. Not ideal for playing the Wii on I can tell you that. I have a Wii and a 50" DLP. I also have super mario galaxy and have not experienced any control issues. The Wii is awesome. I am so glad I got one. :D
Piggy
Well I dusted off my Wii for this and man is it ever fun. I can't remember the last time I had fun with Mario. Well actually I do! Super Mario World on the SNES.
Evolution
Would there a huge difference if I went from composite (480i) to component (480p) for Mario?
winrez
This game is the best Mario game since MarioKart 64! I have to give this game at least a 9.7 The camera's in the game in certain spots were set that way to help people who get sick playing 3D games (Unfortunatly I myself can only handle about 30 min of a game like Halo or Quake III before getting :x ) Here is a link at Nintendo where the developers discuss why they went with different items in the game such as the original version you could stop rocks with your Wiimote but to add value and seperate the Costar mode they eliminated it (Its very interesting article but long!) http://us.wii.com/soft_smg.jsp

Well, that is MY definition of 10/10 also, and that's why I'd never want a reviewer to give a game 10/10. I need to ask - not enjoyed any previous 3d mario games - found them too clumsy. Will I enjoy this? I adore old-school Mario!
Spookie
I need to ask - not enjoyed any previous 3d mario games - found them too clumsy. It plays like Mario 64 in space imo. So yes, you may find it to clumsy.
Zoom7000
I adore old schoool Mario too. The same goes for Sonic. I have always enjoyed the 2D old schoolers. This Mario game is harder to get used to especially with the walking upside down, running around on the surface of spherical planets and walking up the side of walls! This is primarily the reason I enjoyed Mario DS and why I always find myself loading up Mario All Stars and Sonic 1, 2 & 3 every now and again. I wish Sega and Nintendo would go down the nostalgia route and release a new version for the main consoles. There is definately a common consensus that it is a good thing! You'd think that with all the nostalgia being thrown at us here in the UK, the games companies would catch on. Take That, Spice Girls, Boyzone, Wispa! Is 2007 becoming the Year of Nostalgia? Having said all that, at the end of the day, it is still Mario and definately enjoyable to play! No game is perfect and there can always be improvements. Which we will no doubt see in the next Mario game.
Samn9
I don't think 10 should be reserved for perfect, if it is impossible for a game to be perfect. 10 should be as close to perfect as possible.

Um, could you explain how I was 'wrong'? Metroid Prime was fantastic but it was not perfect. It still deserved a 10/10 score.

I can't give this game a perfect 10. Far too many times have I found the camera angle to utterly suck, unchangeable and cause frustration. I enjoyed it, but those camera angles got under my skin. Having recently played through Super Mario 64, I can say that Galaxy has more bad camera angles.

Far too many times have I found the camera angle to utterly suck, unchangeable and cause frustration. I enjoyed it, but those camera angles got under my skin. Having recently played through Super Mario 64, I can say that Galaxy has more bad camera angles. But that's you, not the game. People complain about different things. The best example I can think of recently is Assassin's Creed. I friggin' loved that game. I'd take points off for some technical issues, as I'm sure everyone else would. But then there were critics who took points off because they didn't like the controls. On the other end of the spectrum were people who adored the controls and gave the game very high marks. You can't appease everyone. Galaxy's camera never once gave me problems (in the six or so hours I played). I'm not saying you couldn't grasp the camera or anything like that; I'm not trying to blame you for not enjoying the game. But I'm curious as to how you remedy this problem in a game like Galaxy, where the perspective is constantly changing. My post about Metroid Prime was a joke. To me, it was perfect. I understand others might not see it the same way. Right now I can think of two games that are, to me, flawless: Galaxy and Metroid Prime. Others disagree, and that's the point I'm trying to make. You can argue with the 10/10 scores all you want (not targeted at any one member), but they are certainly justified. Why? It's opinion. I'm pretty sure Italy's ONM gave Galaxy 11/10. What do you guys think of that? :p
