i agree with DrunknMunky, i doubt it would be for the one console, crytek are PC developers so i dont see them going to one console (unless sony have handed them money :p)

^ didn't they release far cry for xbox though? o_O

Yes as it was the only console able to support it. Same goes for HL2 and Doom.

.statix, so many things wrong with your post, but I'm not even going to bother  You're doing nothing but trying to cause a flame war and you know it.

Finacially unsounds as they would have to completely rewrite the engine to work on the Playstation without DirectX. They are probably hiring PS3 programmers for Far Cry 2, a much more likely scenario.

^^ Afraid not, Crytek has nothing to do with Far Cry anymore, they sold the rights to it to Ubisoft. They are the masterminds behind it, which I might add looks really sweet even without those genius' at Crytek

On man, if this happens I might tear up. I love that game so damn much, but don't have a computer capable of running it in all its glory, if it comes to PS3, I'm going to be a very very happy camper. But with the current PS3 release rate, I dun expect it until 2009-2010

Or perhaps they already have programmers that understand how to develop 360 games. The Xbox 360 is very similar to a PC while a PS3 requires different approaches. Either way, I think it was stated if Crysis does well on the PC then some form of it will be considered for consoles, similar to the Far Cry scenario.

Please don't mention RROD, it's been played too many times, newer systems don't die and a graphically advanced game like Crysis isn't going to increase the chances more than than any other game.

Crytek hunting for PS3 programmers

A job listing reveals German developer is prepping PlayStation 3 project; game could be Crysis spin-off--or something new.

One of the obvious perks of gaming on a next-generation system are the detailed graphics. Since next-gen footage began being released, many console gamers have argued that the souped-up living-room boxes could easily keep up with desktop PCs.

Can a PlayStation 3 handle this?

Then a game by the name of Crysis entered the scene. Running on the latest version of Crytek's CryEngine, the shooter's lifelike graphics wowed attendees at both GDC and E3 this year. While console gamers picked up their jaws in envy, they asked themselves (and everyone else) whether the game would also be headed to the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Shortly after its debut at GDC 2006, console owners were egged on by rumors that said the game was headed to next-gen consoles.

Now, one new bit of info shows that Crytek may indeed be looking to bring Crysis to next-gen consoles...or at least to one next-gen console. A job listing on the company's Web site shows that Crytek is looking for a PlayStation 3 programmer with cross-platform code development experience.

Even if Crysis is PS3-bound, it's unlikely it would be available anytime soon. The game ships for the PC in the fourth quarter of this year, meaning it would be a little late to hire staff to get a PS3 version out for this holiday season.

Also, Crytek recently told GameSpot that Crysis remains a PC exclusive in its current form. That disclosure raises the possibility that Crytek is hiring PS3 programmers for a console Crysis spin-off akin to Far Cry Instincts and Far Cry Instincts Predator, the Xbox and Xbox 360 adaptations of the PC shooter Far Cry.

Another factor is the fact Crysis isn't the only game cooking at the German studio. On a recent visit, Crytek told GameSpot that several "vastly different" games are in development at its Frankfurt headquarters--meaning the PS3 project could be an all-new title that is yet to be revealed to the public.

hear the cries of the xbox fans hehehee....look at them whine already..."no! but theres a chance itll game to xbox too!"...lol jk

clearly they have plans to release it for the Playstation 3. if xbox was in the works they would have had the job position listed.

Halo 3 created so many RRoD's for XBOX. Imagine what a game like Crysis would do. Also a game like Crysis is a full-blown out game that's not willing to take any compromises. You can just tell with the requirement it demands from the PC. And the PC version most definitely uses multiple discs to run the game. How would you fit the whole game, textures, characters, audio in 4.7gb (or 9.4DL) ? the facts are out there. you can just simply say...'they'll find a way". *I* think that the Bluray storage medium and Cell Processor is what is appealing to Crytek Developers right now. A DVD format from 10 years ago, and 3 core processor is very hard to imagine being put to use for this type of game.

I am not trying to start a flame here, just throwing out some facts, hopefully someone could find an alternative solution?

 You're a real jokester buddy!

"throwing out some facts"... You're killing me!

ok, i am going to revise my post so i don't 'offend' the people here.

basically, Crysis is a game that delivers unparalleled quality without compromise.

The majority of high-end gaming pcs don't even meet the requirements to run this game.

This is a game the demands processing power and takes up quite a bit of space.

I really don't see how a 3-core processor, and a 9.4GB Disc can meet the needs of a game of this magnitude.

Does it mean that the 360 is not capable? Definitely not. I think that the 360 is capable, it just has certain barriers- like the storage medium.

If Crysis had intentions to deliver this to the 360, it would be on the Jobs page. Its clearly not, it may happen in the future, but as of now it isn't.

Disclaimer: I know even with this revised post, im still going to hurt some fragile minds out there. I think that both consoles are great, and are worthy competitors. Microsoft was able to bring down the Sony giant, and kudos to them for formulating a great plan. And there never will be a clear winner, just battles that will be won and lost. And people have to learn to accept and move on. When Bioshock was out, all the Playstation people were over it. And nothing came of it. So you (in general) seem really desperate when it comes to fighting over game. When it boils down, its a god damn console! Im sure there are more troubling things that we can all work to fix. With that said, i excuse myself if anyone still finds offense to this, i tried my best.

My $0.04

edit: i decided to leave my original post.

.statix, you ARE talking nonsense buddy. Why do you equate public job postings to a specific game coming out on a specific console? What are you, high?! Moreover, it's been said time and time again that Crysis is NOT coming out on consoles. Now accept it and shut the fox up about this. Close this thread someone. Old, old news.

They could still possibly make it as a less-complex game. After all, Call of Duty 4 looks spectacular on PC, and it's available on consoles, so why not make Crysis a little "lighter" and then port it? It's entirely possible, and I reckon it's the only thing they can do at the moment - Far Cry has many editions out on console, and Crysis is the only other game that Crytek have at the moment.

I am not being 360 fan boy but they are looking for someone specific to PS3 while they already have someone to program it for 360 (look at some of the other job opening Xbox 360, PS3). Also If PC game could fit into 6 gigs I am pretty sure they can manage it to fit into DVD-9.
