DrunknMunky Veteran Posted November 16, 2007 Veteran Share Posted November 16, 2007 By Tom IvanThe newly released 40GB model helped Sony’s PlayStation 3 outsell Nintendo’s Wii by more than 20,000 units in Japan during the week ended November 11. Also boosted by strong sales of Shin Sangoku Musou 5, which entered the Japanese software chart at No2, PS3 sales reached almost 56,000 units. In comparison, Nintendo sold just short of 35,000 Wiis, while Microsoft shifted almost 6,000 Xbox 360s. The figures contrast strongly with the NPD Group's US October hardware sales data, which doesn’t take into account the recent PS3 price drop in North America. Despite the spike in PS3 sales, handheld systems still lead the hardware chart. Nintendo’s DS is uncontested at the summit, while Sony’s PSP continues to sit tight around the 60,000 mark. DSL - 78,884 PSP - 58,964 PS3 - 55,924 Wii - 34,546 PS2 - 9,043 Xbox 360- 5,817 GBM - 708 GBASP - 211 GC - 69 GBA - 4 Sales data compiled by Media Create. Corris Veteran Posted November 16, 2007 Veteran Share Posted November 16, 2007 Good for them, PSP sales are up too it seems, I never quite got why people say the PSP failed, for Sony's first hand-held its done pretty dam well for itself. Still gotta love those people still buying Gamecubes and the original GBA's. :p
spenser.d
I wouldn't say 'dominated', as the Wii still did quite well, but 20k+ above is quite the comfort zone for the PS3. And DM, you're on a rampage with these news stories right now. -Spenser
