French publisher Ubisoft has posted a rise in first-half sales and earnings, at the same time delaying Haze and Splinter Cell: Conviction.

Sales for the six-month period ended September 30 were €261 million, up from €172 million year-on-year for a 52 percent increase.

Operating income rose to €13 million from an operating loss of €35 million last year, while net income rose to €31 million from a loss of €21 million a year ago.

Ubisoft attributed the rise in operating income to a €65 million increase in gross profit, reduced R&D expenses and lower administrative expenses.

The firm said its third quarter is already looking promising, with the launches of Assassin’s Creed, Rayman Raving Rabbids 2, Naruto: Rise of a Ninja, Beowulf and casual titles.

Ubisoft said Assassin’s Creed, released November 14 in the US, has already hit the 1 million sold-through mark.

Two high-profile games were delayed, with Splinter Cell: Conviction moving from fiscal Q4 to next fiscal year, and Haze moving from fiscal Q3 to Q4. The publisher also confirmed that a sequel to Rainbow Six Vegas is coming early next year in time for Ubisoft's fiscal Q4.

Ubisoft affirmed its previously released guidance of €330 million in sales for Q3 and around €825 million for the full year, with current operating income before stock options representing at least 9 percent of sales.

Yes the title is maybe a bit misleading, hence the subtitle I added. I don't make the titles up, I just post the news. Go b**** to Next-Gen cause I don't care :p

Kinda sucks about the new splinter cell game. But I haven't gottan double agent yet so I'm behind on that front. No rush at this point for me.

Haze being timed exclusive as many have said, this delay just pushes that back even more now. Not that I really thought about playing Haze anyways.
