+Audioboxer Subscriber² Posted November 23, 2007 Subscriber² Share Posted November 23, 2007 That "extra year" excuse doesn't wash anymore. The PS3 has been out for a year now and the 360 had it's Marketplace established by now. Sony have way more resources for movies and music in comparison and don't have anything yet, or have even shown an interest in the market.I'm not brainwahsed. If you're referring to my sig/avatar I merely like the logo. I wouldn't own all 3 consoles and both handhelds if I was a fanboy, and actually enjoy my PS3. Live experience was brought over from the Xbox. Don't forget that! PSN is in a respectable position if you ask me. It's not going to get any worse, all it's going to do is get better. The recent support of PSN online for PSP users was a great addition as well, and we're still waiting on the launch of Home early next year. And for those who say I don't want anything to do with Home, that's fine, but it's going to be huge for Sony and many users.
-Dave-
i'd like to know exactly what % of available Wii's were sold. As we all know they've got problems meeting demand, so ive there were only say 38,000 available in the market then these figures dont really mean as much - it just means theres plenty of PS3's available, as a result of knowing buying them before now lol
Vortex566
I don't get this backlash against Sony, yes they have made mistakes. However I would much rather see Sony in a strong position then Microsoft. I am impressed by the PS3, I was big cynic in the early days but since owning one I have started to see I was wrong about it. Seeing the PS3 doing well in Japan makes me smile :D

Technically only the online multiplayer was brought over, with some of the communication and some DLC components. Live has expanded far much more than what it was on the Xbox. It wasn't really until we got Halo 2 where the whole community/friends list really took off and you could easily message one another or join games. Download services like demos, tv shows, movies and arcade are all new to the service and MS have done a fantastic job of it. Let us remember that PSN isn't the first time Sony have shown interest in the area either. The online service for the PS2 was even worse, Sony should have learnt from their mistakes they can't just leave it to an after thought and created something dedicated and seamless for the PS3. SnowRanger13
Thats pretty good. The week of Final Fantasy XIII comes out (probably not till 2009 but might be late 2008) I'd bet money on PS3 outselling Wii eight fold in Japan.

MightyJordan
Gotta face facts here. Nintendo are struggling to keep up with the supply demands for the Wii. A few months ago, this wasn't a problem. But now that the 360 is the same price as a Wii, and the PS3 has dropped in price, the competition is coming back. I think the PS3 has suffered from what I'd like to call "The Vista Effect". It's a brand new upgrade, but at a sky-high price when it first comes out, so sales are near-pitiful. Drop the price later on, then the sales start to trickle up. Then introduce new stuff to make it better, and the sales are flooding in! With all due respect to the PS3, I think it's a brilliant console. Its only downside is the lack of top-rate PS3-exclusive games at the moment. But that will all change in 2008. MGS4, GT5. The money will flood in to Sony next year!
TDQuiksilver
how can you guys say the ps3 is outselling the wii, when theres been a wii shortage since its release?... Sure, lacking in overall sales the Playstation 3 is currently being dominated by the Wii. But if weeks like this continue over time (or dare I say even better weeks in sales?) we could see a trend pointing towards the Playstation 3 in Japan. If you can't produce the hardware, eventually people will look for something else to buy or just plain lose interest. Will the fad blow over? The human mind is quick to change it's mind on many accounts. A shortage from the get-go is a great thing, but a continual one for over a year may prove costly. ]SK[
Prices for the Wii are almost double at the moment. The Wii is great because of its price and that fact it's the ultimate console to get children. More so when were in the era of consoles making kids spend more time sat down in front of a TV insead of burning energy. Still, its odd that a year on were still seeing a shortage of Wii's. I would sell mine but I have some odd obsession with computers and collect them all. /me fluffles the empty Game Gear game boxes in the loft. ienhz
Well whaddya know, a 30% sales drop for the PS3 and the Wii is within 3,000 units of the PS3 again. http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/24/japanese...ow-for-a-haiku/ Looks like it was possibly another price drop sales spike. According to the link you just gave, it's sales from Nov 12-18th. According to the OP of this thread his data is also from Nov 11-18th. So which is it? Pretty significant difference... Berserk87
Uhhh... because 53,000 is more than 36,000. omg...... they've sold as many wii's as they've made...which means that you have no idea how many they can/will sell, which means your #'s are useless. and i hope you were joking. Not mine, or the sales reporters fault. If the Wii's can't be made to meet the demand then yes the PS3 is outselling if it ships 53,000 units and the wii 36,000. Simple as that. I wasn't joking, I was commenting on the factual sales figures we have in front of us - You can't manipulate figures.
