Gecko browser that supports Maxthon2s degree of UI customisation?

Recommended Posts

K-Meleon offers pretty good customisation options, but not to the degree of Maxthon2. I heard FF2 could do something similar to Maxthon2 and Avant11's compact mode, but can I strip everything out and move it around with the level of detail that Maxthon allows?

you can compile your own build if you wanted to, i'm not sure how you could go even more customizable than that...

But for the most purposes extensions would be able to do pretty much everything you'd want, you just need to be able to find them.

Firefox :p

I've got a screenshot of a firefox window with nothing but the address bar, it's useless though.

Edit: You have to do it through the userChrome file, as you have to hide bits the app doesn't allow you to hide, you can do a lot through userChrome.

Well, userChrome is a CSS file, so if you know how to write CSS, you know how to fiddle with userchrome.css

This is one of those most obvious examples of what it means to say, "The layout engine (Gecko) renders the interface as well as the pages".

Although, if you don't know css, you might as well learn how to write macros in K-meleon. Much more powerful.
