Spartan_X
Analyst: PS3 will still be behind by 2012 An analyst at Nikko Citigroup believes the global market share of the PS3 will be behind the Wii and 360 in the five years to 2012. They expect the Wii to have a 46% global market share, followed by the Xbox 360 with 33% and 22% for the PS3. Source: MaxConsole

IceBreakerG
Interesting analysis. But I don't know if I'd trust an analyst that can't add 3 whole numbers. I was also unaware that the market has suddenly shifted and expanded itself to include 101%. If the market can do this on it's own, then I think we're all in trouble. Soon everyone's going to want 111% instead of a 110% effort. This scares me.
sundayx Veteran Posted December 6, 2007 Veteran Share Posted December 6, 2007 These threads make no purpose at all. Analysts this analysts that. There's really nothing much else to talk about for the race with PSWii60.
sn00pie
33%+22%+46% = 101% :woot: We really don't need articles like this, there's absolutely no point. It's a waste of 2 minutes lol
JonathanVP
and I predict that xbox 360 will own 51% of the market and the PS3 will own 50% with 1% for the Wii
PiracyX
This is gay. Where are they pulling this predictions from? their arse? Fact it no one knows what is going to happen. I can't see there being PS3 by 2012 without Sony next PS4 and MS with their next Xbox. No one really knows and can only but guess which is article does and so many others. Boz
Well if anything.. I agree that analysts are showing to be a bunch of idiots in most cases anyway, however I do think that this analysis is the closest one to reality I read so far. There are a few factors to consider though. Wii. Even though seems simply unbeatable, the console might still flop. The problem? SOFTWARE! I have all 3 consoles. Can you imagine how many times I turned Wii on? 3 or 4 times. Once when I got it to show off some stuff to my friends and just try it out, when Resident Evil 4 came out, when Metroid Prime came out and maybe one more time (I think it was because of new Tiger Woods 2008). That's about it! The more games come out on Xbox 360 and PS3 that have interesting controllers (read Ace Combat 6 flight sticks, Guitar Hero series, Rock Band, Eye of Judgment and quite a few others) Wii-mote seems kind of boring after a while. Though all this aside, I think that Wii lacks serious software support. This will be felt over the next year for sure. If they don't pick up, they might very well lose the crown. Out of all 3, I actually see Xbox 360 taking the first spot by 2012. It's pretty simple, think about it. Incredible networking features, social aspects, game achievements, accessories, great games not to mention video marketplace with shows, movies in HD (currently ONLY service that offers HD video like that). I mean even if we look now, Xbox 360 is a close second behind Wii and it costs more. If goes low on software, they will be overtaken by Xbox no question about that. PS3, so far, even with exclusives is too far away in software dept, not to mention in hardware sales. This is why I think that all that PS3 first by 2012 is pretty silly to begin with. Let's not forget a lot of these "analysts" work for the console companies anyways. They are paid to make these statements in order to increase consumer confidence. With PS3, consumers have pretty much nothing else but to wiat.

Zab
i love how someone can study the markets past and think they have a good guess at hte future, its easy to see that ps3 will surpass wii within 3 years, (o wiat im turing into an analysist!!! FU CK) lmao, you can never trust these studies because their always flaud / biasis / bad math lol. personnally, the only way i don't think sony will even out with microsoft is if microsoft, declares war on sony and sends their computer programers with mouse's flailing after the sony ones. lol
Danrarbc
Regardless of 101% this is one of the more realistic projections. You guys should be happy that projection would be an improvement over PS3's current position.
L3thal Veteran Posted December 7, 2007 Veteran Share Posted December 7, 2007 The only reason he is predicting this (and probably will be wrong) is because he will be retiring in 4 years, so at that point, it doesn't matter if he was way off. CelticWhisper
Isn't the definition of an analyst "Someone who is paid far too much money to discuss things about which they haven't the faintest clue?" Hell, I could be an analyst with as much (read: little) as I know about the PS3. Watch. *clears throat* I predict the PS3 will see a 75% improvement in its waffle-making capabilities by 2015, just in time for the Mr. Fusion add-on. Power up the flux capacitor, Kaz, and hand me my sports-game almanac. Time to place some bets on Madden 2006.
