+Audioboxer Subscriber² Posted January 11, 2008 Subscriber² Share Posted January 11, 2008 I'm a fan of Sony frequently updating their firmware. That way if something needs fixing, it's done immediately. There's a difference between fixing something and adding new content. If there is an issue with a game/feature you can bet on a quick firmware fix - Such as 2.10 to 2.11 or something. Substantial changes such as 2.10 to 2.5, will be slower, to allow more content to be added/more significant content to be added.

Master Ryu
Booo! I also prefer the more frequent updates. I want them now!! I can't believe people are complaining when good things happen..
CelticWhisper
How about keeping semi-frequent updates and then releasing "update packs" a la Windows service packs every few months?
PyX
I prefer only 2.x updates with a good quality control so that they don't release a 2.xy immediately after the 2.x update because there's a critical bug that was introduced. Also, the update system should be more intelligent. Right now it seems to update the WHOLE firmware, but it should only patch the needed files. Oh, and I still get many random disconnections with my brand new linksys wireless router. For a total of 6 wifi routers, none worked.
insomniac9
I like the idea of having fewer updates. The list of features by CVG is good, as well as all the ones listed I would like to see the remaining hard disk space on the front screen and also an option to autoshut down the ps3 after x number of hours. Huleboeren
Why though? Psychological gain that you are getting something important? I'd rather not see the PS3 updating/rebooting just to add some new themes/fonts and a graphical visualization to the music player 2 times a month. Gimme meaty updates every 2/3 months and ill be happy. In the meantime keep me content with weekly store updates and weekly/monthly updates/additions to Home (Y) Exactly ^^ I love firmware updates in all shapes and sizes be it PS3, X360 or iPod :p I love the smell of firmware in the morning  Id say no more than 2months between bigger firmware updates please :) Or atleast release them on specific days in specific months - so you have something to look forward to :p
