# How do you calculate modulus in calculator

## Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

I am using a Casio fx-570s Scientific Calculator.

Any idea what is the simplest way to calculate the modular of a number ?

eg, 10 mod 7 = 3

3 mod 7 = 3

All these are small numbers but what about in a case of 674967459 mod 34 ?

Regards

don

afaik there's no remainder modulous on casio's, only the absolute modulous function.

It's kinda easy anyway, number - (round down (<number>/<divider>) * divider)

With the calculator in integer mode (I forget what models can and cannot do this) use this formula:

A - B * (A / B).

Example:

674967459 mod 34

674967459 - 34 * (674967459 / 34) =>

674967459 - 34 * 19851984 = 3
