Famitsu Review Gran Turismo 5 Prologue - 39/40

Famitsu - the Japanese Magazine that eclipses the rest, the one we?re all waiting to hear from. They have now reviewed Gran Turismo 5 Prologue for the Playstation 3, and it wouldn?t be inaccurate to say that it eclipses all other racing games around it.

Famitsu scored Forza 2 36/40 and PGR4 33/40 - both extremely respectable scorThey have, however, scored GT5 Prologue 39/40 - that is 10, 10, 9 and 10.

That is some pretty glowing scores right there, for a game that is practically only a taster of the full Gran Turismo 5. I expect they?re holding back that fourth perfect score for the arrival of Polyphony Digital?s full flung beast.

An incredible looking game running at 1080p 60fps, with the best car models you have ever seen and with an updated physics model to make it the most realistic driving simulator ever. Polyphony Digital are Gods.

Oh and here?s a nice mention of damage modeling being in the game - something which has been missing from the series. Here PSU.com suggest that car damage is in the game, though we?ve yet to see it:

Many fans of the series may also be pleased to learn that damage modelling has finally been implemented with Prologue. On the whole, the damage effects are quite realistic and we can safely say that the days of the Gran Turismo series being called a ?bumper car simulator? are over.

The arrival of the London track is something else, which will see you passing through Trafalgar Square and Piccadilly Circus. It looks incredible and is such a good addition to the series. Really we can?t wait.

Happy Driving!

39/40 wow good score for just the Prologue... We know it looks great, the biggest thing is how some cars sound and if damage has been added. If cars sound good and damage is in witch were told it is then it probably deserves it. I can't wait till my import of this ships.

39/40 is not a surprise to me, this game looks brilliant. Is there any word on how we can tune cars etc in the Prologue?

I am hoping they go back to the GT1 days where you could by the Race Day Kits for them, which would apply body kits and sponsor logos. Look proper cool :D

sadly you won't be able to do any tuning in prologue. it'll only be in the final game.

The theme isn't great I installed it a few days ago, I find the original theme/icons to be the best still.

If you can't tune the cars yet, how can one reviewer/previewer/news source state that superchargers finally sound like there real-life counterparts??? :/

Audio, are you importing GT5, purchasing it from PSN or not getting it at all :p ?

I will be, but most likely AFTER xmas.

Unless PD turn around and say english copy coming Jan/Feb... but I think it will be March/April US, and maybe even longer EU.
