Famitsu Review Gran Turismo 5 Prologue - 39/40

Recommended Posts

On the source link in the OP, they have added an update:

*Update* It has been brought to our attention that this review score from Famitsu is not accurate. Gran Turismo 5: Prologue has not yet been reviewed by Famitsu.

The trusted Japanese source that we and many others use for monthly Famitsu scores felt the need to produce fake scores this month. This source is usually very reliable, and we don?t understand why they would feel the need to produce fake scores.

We are, however, sorry that the score is not real and will inform you of the GT5:P?s real score when Famitsu do review the game.

This game looks absolutely freaking awesome though!:woot:oot:

The graphics dont look any better than any current next gen racing game.

They look very good but its still easy to pick out polygons and low res textures, not so much in the cars but in the surroundings.

Thats from looking at the screenshots at http://www.gran-turismo.com/gt5p/index_en.html

I was hoping for more, why do developers think that adding lots of bloom (HRD) and reflections makes for a more realistic game. Everything looks plastic and polished. Was hoping for dirt, wear, mud, grass, etc... There are some nice flowers in one screenshot though, gives me hope for the extra detail most racing games are missing.

Suppose will have to wait and see it running before I make a final decision.

I wonder how much Sony paid Famitsu to create the fake scores.

Sad.

Yes, that guy on the forum that made them up, all this leads back to Sony paying Famitsu to post those scores, when neither was involved at all.

Well done sir, well done.

Haha, funny how everything is a sony conspiracy.

The source of the 39/40 was a Japanese blog that people translated.

A "joke" like that is rather silly in this case, since even if the 39/40 isn't correct, GT5 is a game that will score highly regardless.

By looking at the screenies on the PSF. A lot of the game is in English on the BD version. Does the BD version contain extra languages that the PSN version doesn't?

the online patch went up a few minutes ago. servers are getting hammered at the moment though.

Mine arrived yesterday which I am very impressed with as I ordered it on the 13th Dec, it was shipped on the 16th and arrived on the 28th. Good going for FREE STANDARD DELIVERY and over the Xmas period (Good Job YesAsia).

Sadly I haven't had time to play it yet :( I will hopefully get some time on Sunday as I am busy again tonight!

Is it just me or is anyone else having problems updating the game ? Mine download for so long but then just stop. Anyone have any ideas as to why ?

Yeah had the same problem, at random times i would get ... some error, yellow triangle with exclamation mark.

I just kept trying, like 3-4 times, it got downloaded eventually :)

The game looks nice. The screenshots in screeny mode looks fantatic, ingame it's not much different from the recent racing titles. What ruined the feeling a bit for me was the oversqeeling tires. I didn't get a chance to play it with a steeringwheel and i presume the physics are different after you hook up a steering wheel,... at least i hope so. The sqeeling of the tires is an indicator of them loosing grip although the griplevels didn't change that much, the harder the steering the louder the sqeeling without the car noticably under- or oversteering. I certainly am hoping this is due to the fact a gamecontroller was plugged in instead of a wheel.

I spend some laps on a track, both driving and sitting beside an instructor. These road tires tend to sqeel a lot more then your avarage racing tire when also made the car alot more unstable if you kept pushing it. I went on the grass in the game, had a little braking on a piece of tarmac, flipped the stick on the gamecontroller, although i was going much to fast for the tires to grip and magically i found the car taking the turn.

Again, i hope this is due to dumbed down physics while using a gamepad to make up for the lack of feeling you would have racing with a wheel.

Can't wait to try it with a wheel though.

Just put my copy into my PS3 and it started to download one thing which finished, and now it's started downloading another update.

Any ideas what these 2 are? and why the 2nd one is taking ages?
