Slimy
I'm using some beta of 9.5 in case it makes a difference. Is there a way to remove the menu bar? What Opera skin would you recommend that works well with Aero? I'm liking Mirage Tango Fusion right now  How do you get to the speed dial without creating a new tab? How do you edit the right click menu? edit: Oh right, when a tab is closed, I want the next tab that is loaded to be the one on the right, not the one on the left. How can I change that? Slimy
argh, edit is messing up on 9.5. I can't wait for this version to go final
halcyoncmdr
You can use a custom button to toggle the menu bar on/off from here: http://operawiki.info/CustomButtons I am using the default skin at the moment, so I don't know of any other good themes :( If you use ctrl+# it will open that speed dial page in a new tab, unless you have "Reuse current tab" selected in the options. I do not remember how to edit the right click menu, but I will try and find out... P.S. Haven't had any problems with editing on my installation... hmm... EDIT: It seems you have two choices to edit the menu from my 5 minute search... You can edit the default menu located at C:\Program Files\%Opera%\defaults or you can make a copy of the menu in the "preferences > toolbars" section, then edit that copy located at C:\Documents and Settings\%user%\Application Data\Opera\%Opera%\profile\menu, previous locations are assuming you are running XP. I am unsure of exactly the wording you would use for certain functions, but hopefully this helps get you on the right track. I know other more power-users will be able to help you with anything deeper if you need it :) Edited December 12, 2007 by halcyoncmdr
Slimy
It seems I have to implement "Enable menu bar | Disable menu bar" into a keystroke, but I can't figure out how to do that. For some reason that keystroke doesn't work for me. That doesn't seem to be the right click menu. Well I broke it so bad messing around with those files, I had to reinstall Opera :p Edited December 12, 2007 by Slimy
halcyoncmdr
Haha, I thought those were the files. But I might have been wrong :p For the enable menu bar disable menu bar, remove the "Platform unix" part and it works I think...
Slimy
haha I tried adding all the OSes and it didn't work but that did. Sweet! I tried changing it to just alt like IE7 but that failed so I set it to F6. Much slimmer, I love it :D

cropcircles
Works for me as well. I just finished installing 9716 and sites are loading much faster and not hanging like they were with 9656.

EvilSeph
Not too sure if you got all the answers you need but I hope this helps anyway: 1) Go to opera:config#Show Menu and untick it. Or use a pre-made custom button that toggles it for you (or create your own). I'm using one where I click on an icon (or text, depending on the skin I use) and it hides the menu bar. I click on the drop-down arrow and it pops up the menu from the button. 2) I'm not too sure but there's one skin I just can't get enough of and that's Emil. 3) There's a (said to be buggy) custom button that you can use to toggle Speed dial on/off in the current tab. 4) Take a look at Editing INI Files to learn how to edit Opera's INI files, customize menus etc. and a list of actions you can use. You can always get the location of your Opera profile by going to opera:about. 5) Take a look at How to close current tab and go to previous/next tab. -------- I'm not sure if alt will work as a hotkey but it might. Do you have single-key shortcuts enabled? -------- What are you trying to achieve with customizing Opera? Maybe I can help...who knows. I mean, what are you trying to do? Slimy
Hmm a skin named after me, interesting :p Thanks for all the tips, I'll definitely look into them further this weekend!
EvilSeph
I've found a new skin that may replace Emil, it's called 2nd thought - Jimple. The choice of colour is just right. I can easily tell tabs that have loaded but I haven't checked (i.e. unread tabs), tabs I am mousing over and the current active tab. There are some cool icons with neat effects too. It's some little things that make this skin so great. Edited January 9, 2008 by EvilSeph
shoust
edit: Oh right, when a tab is closed, I want the next tab that is loaded to be the one on the right, not the one on the left. How can I change that? Upcoming weekly will have firefox tab close behaviour as an option. Most likely in opera:config
