+Audioboxer Subscriber² Posted December 13, 2007 Subscriber² Share Posted December 13, 2007 Everyone else stop the presses! There's a clueless guy in Isle #22...The problem doesn't lie in him endorsing his product, it lies in the way he goes about it - acting as if it's proven fact that his product is better in the face of millions of people who've experienced otherwise. He'd have been much better off starting that sentence with "I think ..." -Spenser That wouldn't be very positive would it :p No company is going to run around saying "I think we're the best", they're going to go around saying "We are the best". Sony have the last TWO generations to thank for their smugness, would you not be the same if you just anilhated all competition blindfolded for the last 8-9 years? Fair enough if the PS brand was new, or inexperienced, but it's not. That's why we get most of this shameless plugging. It's like in a football (soccer) leage where there is usually 3~4 main teams who challenge all year for 1st position. If team A has won 2 years in a row, but get's off to a slow start in year 3, you won't suddenly hear the teams board lower expectations and tell fans, "Oh hey, we might of won the last two years, but we don't think we'll do it this year. We think we'll finish well though, but we don't want to say/or don't know where...".

It's more tactful, while still asserting superiority.-Spenser It's just the way a lot of the industry goes... These guys get paid big bucks, and will have good qualifications to do their jobs. It's a cut-throat enviroment at the top, you do what you can for (Y) publicity. Sony will know their struggling, but there's no way in hell you're going to see them stop praising their product 24/7... or coming out and admitting defeat - They may say they need to "progress" more in some areas, but they won't blunty say we've failed with this... hence us seeing things like the "oh our launch could've been better, BUT REMEMBER HOW WE WERE SHORT STOCKED/HIGH IN DEMAND AND COULDN'T SHIP ENOUGH..." nonsense. While the runt of the online world will go crazy flaming Sony to hell for comments like this, those who are loyalists will relish them... think of it as the bigotry/tension/rivalry between 2 of the big rivals in football. They'll always be building themselves up, and slamming on the competition... even if they are BEHIND the competition in the league.
and1direct
If you dumb your console down, your scared, have no commitment, and have "lost" already. The numbers (Wii is first) dont lie.
fobi
the only reason why the majority dislike the ps3 is because it costs a lot more. if it was the same price as the xbox360, which one would you get?
+Audioboxer Subscriber² Posted December 13, 2007 Subscriber² Share Posted December 13, 2007 The numbers (Wii is first) dont lie. What are you on about? That comment relates to what PR people say, nothing to do with the Wii. the only reason why the majority dislike the ps3 is because it costs a lot more. if it was the same price as the xbox360, which one would you get? If you think it's just about cost, you're wrong :/ And now, you can actually buy a PS3 for the same as a 360.
shakey
The title of this thread would just chage to "Sony CEO: PS3 games are way more fun". i dont think sony needs any more spin to what they say. the only reason why the majority dislike the ps3 is because it costs a lot more. if it was the same price as the xbox360, which one would you get? i dont like it because it has few games available, most are sup par to me, the online is still early i know but just eh. the bluray player on it in a year or 2 will be bottom of the barrel with how firmware revisions are going. who knows if an older model wont be able to player new disc when that time comes around. No backwards compat for the cheapest system is a horrible idea. 6 axis is crap. no rumble, except for those new controllers....i guess they opened up a new dimension and made the impossible with that one. And that line then starts just the utter bs tactics and statements they have pulled on their customers and said to be customers. Theres plenty of reasons why i dont support sony, its not the price. shakey
for now software updates are working. wasnt there a problem with old hd dvd players not working with some of the newer movies? if so, couldnt that as well happen with bluray down the line? eh, im not buying any console ever, except maybe a wii. im a hardcore pc'er , i see a good game every now and then on every console that makes me want it, but not enough to justify the prices usually. But ya, sony has a bad pr firm and lousy business tactics.
