Need to backup Firefox

Recommended Posts

Hey,

I wanted to know how i can back up my Firefox settings, add-ons, bookmarks, user name and passwords, etc.

I went to

C:\Documents and Settings\Crypton\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\30lmfzxy.default

and found all the files there, i wanted to know if there is any registry tweak, so that i can move this folder to D: and back it up permanently, and modify Firefox to use the settings from there.

Thanks in advance,

sibot

Hello sibot,

All your profile settings are stored in that (30lmfzxy.default) folder. Simply back it up like you would do so with any other folder. I don't know of any "registry tweak" that could move the folder, and I doubt it exists.

On a side note you could transfer that folder to another computer with Firefox installed and load it up. All you have to do is transfer the profile folder to the Firefox\Profiles directory and make a simple edit to the path in the profiles configuration file.

The easy way to make firefox look for it's profile on your D: or where ever you put it, is to start FF with the profile manager after you have moved the folder. Start - run - write "firefox -p" and create a new profile, make it point to your new folder on D:.

FEBE

FEBE (Firefox Environment Backup Extension) allows you to quickly and easily backup your Firefox extensions. In fact, it goes beyond just backing up -- It will actually rebuild your extensions individually into installable .xpi files. Now you can easily synchronize your office and home browsers.

FEBE backs up your extensions, themes, and (optionally) your bookmarks, preferences, passwords, cookies and just about everything else Firefox offers (it can even backup/restore your entire profile).
