AltecXP
Is the old Phoenix 0.1-5 Source Code still out there? Would it "in theory" be possible to update it to Gecko 1.9(think that the latest) and do a few box fixes/optimizations to it? A few guys and I just want to play around. SO if you know where I can get the old SC please let me know.
FATILA
Nothing for direct download Phoenix wise, however the first release of Firebird is up: ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/fir...-source.tar.bz2 or you could see if it is still possible to check it out via CVS: http://developer.mozilla.org/en/docs/Mozil...ce_Code_Via_CVS

gnuman
Pre Phoenix was Seamonkey which was not even useable. But Firefox is not open source so it might not be openly available.

Kaobear
But Firefox is not open source so it might not be openly available. Firefox is completely Open Source. I have been doing translations for them for years and am proud to have been a member of the project.
NienorGT
I have to ask... Why? :p Just a personal challenge? Better UI? You think it will be faster?
PegasusX
It would be cool if someone would go into the Firefox codebase, slim it down and release it as a fork or something.
Nehemoth
Pre Phoenix was Seamonkey which was not even useable. But Firefox is not open source so it might not be openly available. 1th, he's talking about pre-Firefox, mean Phoenix. 2nd, until I know there's not pre-phoenix (except could be netscape). 3th it couldn't be seamonkey. Seamonkey is the name of the Mozilla Suite, after the mozilla leave the development of the suite so their could focus on firefox and thunderbird, the community called the new suite seamonkey. 4th, course Firefox, mozilla and all that stuff is full open source. I being using firefox since those phoenix days....Still in love.... : - )
The_Decryptor Veteran Posted December 25, 2007 Veteran Share Posted December 25, 2007 Firefox is just the browser component of the Mozilla suite (which has been reborn as SeaMonkey) And Firefox is just the browser component with a few features tacked on top, don't know how you could slim it down. BinaryFragger
Pre Phoenix was Seamonkey which was not even useable. But Firefox is not open source so it might not be openly available. Of course it's open source. And for those curious about the first release of Firefox (Phoenix 0.1), its release notes are still available.
