+Audioboxer Subscriber² Posted December 19, 2007 Subscriber² Share Posted December 19, 2007 To co-incide with the release of PS3 firmware v2.10, Sony have announced an updated Folding@Home client, which you'll "soon" be able to download. The update brings two major changes: firstly, you can set a timer for the program, after which the PS3 can shut itself down. The other change is the addition of a background music feature, which draws its tracks from any you've got store on your HDD. Source: http://n4g.com/ps3/News-94022.aspx Background music is sweet! Am_I_Evil
is background music really needed? i mean who actually sits there and watched the folding client run? is there actually someone who's life is so boring that they actually spend time watching the folding client? i mean i guess this is good for when you just want to listen to music and you could have this going in the background i guess...but this is far, far, from SWEET!!! I plan on getting an HDTV for my room (PS3 is in living room just now) and I can tell you I have music playing often in my room from my PC. I'll also be hooking up a sound system to my new setup, so why not run music whilst the PS3 is folding? It's only music on the PS3 drive though... I'd like it to support music from streaming servers as TVersity can currenly stream EVERY song on my PC to my PS3. So it is a "sweet" update for those that fold often and their PS3 is in a room where they do other things, meaning music would be appropriate to play. In this case it saves you the time and cost of running two appliances and trims it down to one. Just a neat feature to add.
