As some of you may know I go on about getting an HDTV set for my room soon... What I'd do is buy this bundle then sell my 60GB on e:)y :) (Don't need BC, and the 40GB is 65nm, and runs cooler/quieter). Sonys Bravia branding confuses the hell outta me thou:blink:ink: We currently own a KDL40W2000U. Theres a KDL40D out there as well!

+Audioboxer Subscriber² Posted December 27, 2007 Author Subscriber² Share Posted December 27, 2007 I'm now pretty much certain im going ahead and buying this! The TV can be bought itself on Dixons for ?899 - ?20 with coupon = ?879. But what I've seen is 60GB PS3's sell on Ebay for anywhere between ?330-?400+, and that's 2nd hand! I also have a 3yr warranty with Game to bundle in and I'll probably sell off PES2008 with it, as I have FIFA, and prefer it. So by my estimations, I pay ?1,000 now and to be "safe" get the bottom estimate of around ?300 for my 60GB = ?700 for my TV The joys of not caring about:pC eh? :p

timmmay
Are you sure the PS3 is being delivered with the TV? I've heard you have to claim the PS3 through Sony with your proof of purchase and it can take 4+ weeks.

I've heard you have to claim the PS3 through Sony with your proof of purchase and it can take 4+ weeks. Yup it comes with it. This isn't a "Sony" deal, it's just Argos offering a PS3 with the TV. My proof is from others who purchased earlier and have received both ;)

craybox
what does standard definition look like on those monsters though ?
Iamit2900
I go with him/her/it. I wonder whether 5 years or 3 years for a warranty matters? Am I right in thinking that the 40GB version has a HDMI Port? Also how good is a Sony Bravia TV set? When I was in France the Samsung one's were in a class of their own. troist
what does standard definition look like on those monsters though ? I have a KDL40X2000U and the image looks great even in SD. The built-in upscaling is great on freeview, and my 360/PS3 are 1080p so I can't say what the Bravias are like for taking SD inputs and upscaling them but I expect it'd be the same quality as from the tuner. +Audioboxer Subscriber² Posted January 11, 2008 Author Subscriber² Share Posted January 11, 2008 (edited) Quick messy pic (horrible phone cam as well), Nothing setup yet, TV isn't even plugged in. Digi cam pics with PS3/360 hooked up within the hour or so! :) Aesthetically, it looks much better than the W2000 downstairs (imo), picture quality/review details to come soon. As you may have read in other topics, ALL in I got this TV with a 5yr warranty for ?500>:oo ! You can't argue with that price:pp Edited January 11, 2008 by Audioboxer

I was thinking of getting a 40" around christmas time instead but my room.....well its far too small :(Anyway Audio, what a great deal! I am sure that the TV will not disappoint you (Y) Yeah it's quite big, I was going to get a 32" for my room for around ?550-600, but low and behold I had a 60GB PS3 at the right time:laugh:: Yeah im sure it will look great, just gonna grab a bite to eat then get stuck into setting it all up. The TV itself has had some sketchy reviews on SD quality depending on the source, but I don't care, im using it for HD movies/shows and gaming - It has good reviews for HD quality(Y)) Anyway I'll write up a mini review as soon as I can. ynnoj
Sometimes I wish I went for a full HD 40" set instead of my 37" Samsung, but I couldn't justify the extra cost for the minimal difference. If I was going 1080p, I'd go for a much larger set. I'm sure it'll look awesome though.
+Audioboxer Subscriber² Posted January 11, 2008 Author Subscriber² Share Posted January 11, 2008 Here is some slightly better quality snaps. TV is beautiful, the screenshots do NOT do it justice, trust me. I'd say image quality is superior to the W2000 we have. Loving it (Y) TV has a really nice piano black finish thats hard to see in the photos. It kinda matches the gloss finish on the PS3. Rest of my room is a WIP just now, ill take some shots of my whole pad this month once decorating is done  ps. You can tell what console is an eye-sore in the setup :p
