+Audioboxer Subscriber² Posted December 27, 2007 Subscriber² Share Posted December 27, 2007 (edited) Over the years, the PSP has been regularly slammed for its lack of compelling games, however 2008 looks set to change all that. Here are a range of promising titles to look forward to in the new year - Harvey Birdman and Pursuit Force 2 (January), Wipeout and Patapon (Feburary), R-Type, Wild Arms and Crisis Core (March), God of War (April), Secret Agent Clank, Star Ocean and Hot Shots Golf 2 (TBA in 2008). Harvey Birdman: Attorney At Law (1/08/2008) Pursuit Force 2: Extreme Justice (1/29/2008) WipeOut: Pulse (2/12/2008) Patapon (2/12/2008) R-Type: Command (3/03/2008) Wild Arms XF (3/03/2008) God Of War: Chains Of Olympus (3/04/2008) FF7: Crisis Core (3/25/2008) Secret Agent Clank (TBA-2008) Hot Shots Golf: Portable 2 (Unconfirmed-2008) Star Ocean: First Departure (Unconfirmed-2008) *IMPORTS* Yggdra Union (1/24/2008) Coded Soul (2/07/2008) Musou Orochi (2/21/2008) Monster Hunter Portable: 2nd-G (3/13/2008) Umihara Kawase (3/19/2008) Echochrome (3/20/2008) Valhalla Knights 2 (3/27/2008) Astonishia Story 2 (TBA-2008) Star Ocean: Second Evolution (TBA-2008) Tales Of Rebirth (TBA-2008) Phantasy Star Portable (TBA-2008) Final Fantasy: Dissidia (TBA-2008): Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep (TBA-????) Source: http://www.maxconsole.net/?mode=news&newsid=23874 Awesome list! (Y) I  my PSP. Going to be upgrading to a black PSP slim in Jan/Feb (currently have a fat white) The PSP really doesn't get the acknowledgement it should at times I don't think. Not only does it have a great lineup of original titles now, it can emulate the whole back catalog of PS1 games, emulate other consoles (SNES/Genesis/N64), run homebrew such as ScummVm - and thanks to the memory it has, it can play Monkey Island 3. Finally you've got the awesome PSP-PS3 integration (remote play). Brilliant first entry into the handheld market by Sony if you ask me. In terms of production on games it trumphs the DS (graphics, ect), but what Nintendo have proven is keeping things simple and fun, goes a long way in todays gaming society ;) Theres definitely room for the 2 handhelds to live with each other. I don't see Sony suddenly exiting the hand held market as the DS outsells the PSP. You can bet your boots on a PSP2 ;) Edited December 27, 2007 by Audioboxer

+Audioboxer Subscriber² Posted December 27, 2007 Author Subscriber² Share Posted December 27, 2007 (edited) IMO PSP most powerful handheld. That is true hands down, but it doesn't always mean most successful :p Check the console market, the PS3 & 360 blow away the Wii in terms of power, but the Wii is selling more. I think Sony will be hoping that once PS3 sales pickup, people will hear about all these PSP-PS3 integration features, and will therefore go buy a PSP to accompany their PS3. The only way tides could turn is when you create a piece of technology lacking in power in comparison to competitors, logic would tell you that you need to upgrade/update first. Therefore the Wii may fire ahead in sales now but come to decline/become stagnant as it comes into its 3/4/5th year... this is when the poweful consoles are down at dirt cheap prices and usually boom in sales. ^ That is honestly what I see happening. The 360 and PS3 will have a much longer lifespan than the Wii... and in terms of overall success of each console, we may end up with one of the two, or both of the "underdogs" selling more overall in their lifespans. As for that relating to the PSP/DS, it just isn't going to go down like that.... The DS is faaaar too popular, and while it will decline in sales over time, the PSP won't be able to catch up regardless of whether it has a longer shelf life imo. StevoJD
Very nice. Had my PSP since launch and I haven't played it in ages.... Might give some of these games a go, though I'm not that crazy about handhelds anymore. I just use it for videos.
Novaoblivion
I have really been thinking about picking up a PSP ever since the Slim came out. Looks like a lot of good games are coming out for it! The God of War graphics look incredible for a handheld.

I'm 100% sure that once PlatTV is out I'll be getting one. I currently have DS and love it 'cause of the homebrew stuff. I haven't gotten into the PSP homebrew but I think it's time for me to do so. Exactly what I need, another electronic in the house. Am I not mistaken but can't you get the PSP and use it to watch videos that are on your PS3 even when you arent on your own WiFi? Or was I misinformed on that? Yes you can. The PSP has two ways to connect to your PS3. 1. Over the network (need to be in your house/close to your PS3/router) 2. Over the internet (can connect anywhere in the world where you have an internet connection for your PSP) - Of course when you go out and about you would need to leave your PS3 on, but that's a no brainer! ^ Well I don't know about that last part tbh. Having a quick look around the internet some people have said you can turn your PS3 on/off through remote play... but it may just be over the network as opposed to over the internet. If it's over the internet as well, then that means you don't need to always leave your PS3 running when you leave the house (Y)

I guess when I look at that list, I see a lot of "to be implemented" and only one tiny feature per game (if there is one). The only one that was mildly interesting was the rear view mirror for GT. Remote Play should not be a sole reason for getting a PSP.

Purchase at least a 512mb or a 1 gig pro duo from a site like Newegg.com and you won't have to pay much at all.
