Fish
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=6...hlight=metacity The new version of Metacity includes compositing. I've just updated my version in Gutsy and it works well. It would be nice to see this included in Shift too.

simsie
I was fiddling with PCLinuxOS 2007 and I think the following needs wizards: Adding things to fstab, possibly even an option to add currently mounted drives. I was trying to mount a SAMBA share at the time. Adding things to resolv.conf on startup. Eventually I found /etc/resolv.d/base or however it's done, but I think a wizard to do that would be pretty useful. I also like PCLinuxOS's NDISWrapper Wizard as well. Digitalx
Cell Compatibility.:D if you mean PS3 CBE ? Then shift needs a PPC core compiled edition.

Iian K
To be honest, I don't have any feature requests at the moment, then again I've yet to try it. Some things that any Linux Distro should have is a clean, simple user interface, applications that are standard, codecs for all the files a Windows user would commonly use, and most of all good driver suipport for everyone (even though this sounds a bit much, and is a tedious task to do). fevoldj2
In the installer, I think it would be nice to be presented with a screen to choose the following: Office Suite \ programs, media player(s) \ default, dvd\cd burning software, web broswer(s) \ default, etc
PGHammer
Honestly an installable os would be cool, but what is the point of installing something that is in its early beta stages when you can just run a live cd? Shift (like Ubuntu) will let you run as a Live CD, then, if you like it, install it to your hard drive. I'm going to take a look at the latest ISO and compare it to Hardy Heron B1 (which now includes the Wubi Windows-based installer, and which I have installed currently). Wubi has a thread already (so I won't go into it here); however, I'm seriously impressed with it.
PGHammer
Agreed  On that front, 0.6.5 is installable. What I would like to see is the addition of Wubi to the mix (as the current beta of Hardy Heron has); that way, Shift can be installed (and run) from Windows (not every Neowinian is a Linux Master; I'm certainly not one!). Mark43
We have a meeting in the IRC chat sometime in April. I'm new around here, but I've already shown my interest in becoming a developer. I think we can take a number of suggestions on board, and hopefully implement the best ones. An easy installable OS would be good, and probably would get more users. We'll have to see... Digitalx
the Miro application would be a nice addition by default :)
CyberWolf
A simple active directory integration tool that works. In windows you just simply enter a windows domain and provide a domain admin username and password and the OS does the rest. I would really like to see that, and I would be willing to test that as we have 2 domains here (domain admin for each) I think this holds a lot of IT pros who are only windows fluent from really giving it a try. I being one, have dabbled with linux at work but can not make the switch because I cannot seem to get any linux distro ever to authenticate to a domain and access AD resources such as mappable drives. Get a distro that is free and does that and I drop windows on my workstation. However I am a realist and 1 users request is not enough to warrant lots of dev time on but from what I have read on teh web is that this is a pretty popular request and holds many professionals from making the switch. The secret to killing windows is to integrate with them. Once you have full compatibility in a sense then you begin taking over slowly. Users want easy cd/dvd burning, they want easy office apps, easy multimedia playback. If you are looking for mass level adoption then simple point and click installs and access to easy install software. Thats how windows did it. double click the exe. I look forward to your next version. Once I get back to my office im going to check out the current version.
