Recommended Posts

i wish to buy a PS3 but am a bit worried, ive read around about how the xbox360 over heats, but does this happens to the PS3, and im using a CRT tv 30" will this make the games run just as nice or should i wait and but a new tv and ps3 2gether, im not to concert about the tv just the ps3 overheating or problems with them. If anyone could please get me some good links on the good and bad on ps3 that would be great.

thanks

As far as I know 360's red rings of death is a huge problem and now I've heard that Microsoft is so concerned that there's a 3 year warranty with many 360's. PS3's would have a huge problem if they were unreliable considering the effort and price of it.

Also I would consider waiting until you get a new TV (preferably a HDTV with HDMI connections) the quality will improve considerably with a better TV.

wait and buy a 1080p tv for your ps3 also you will need to get an hdmi cable as well since the cables included only support 480 resolution

when you do get them try it with the included cable first then the hdmi youll see how big the difference is

when i got my ps3 i plugged it in with the cables included and was like ??? i thought this was suppose to look better THE CABLES MAKE A DIFFERENCE

1080p HDTV + PS3 = The best gaming/movie combination on earth IMO.

I had 3 Xbox 360's including the apparently improved "Elite" model and they all died so Im never buying another Xbox again. EVER!

w00t! Sony!.

Clarification: 360s don't overheat. Some of them (none that were manufactured recently) suffer a manufacturing defect that can eventually cause them to fail (the RROD error). It is, however, not caused by "overheating."

Most X360 have the RROD error, the only problem with the PS3 is the fan noise and thats not really a "problem". I have a loud 60gb which has quieted down recently, if it gets loud again time to say goodbye!

All 40gb models are silent as far as I know.

i'd def try ur best to get a TV first even a little 720p will be fine....most games wont even run at 1080p so 720p tv is fine! once u seen it on a HDtv u will never wanna go bak to standard!

PS3 failure rates are much lower than the Xbox 360s, as they do not suffer from a major design flaw like the original 360's "x-clamp" which warped up and caused the RROD on consoles. Newer PS3s also include a 65nm CPU which reduces heat even more...

I am pretty sure not many people were complaining a year after the PS2 launch about bad lasers either. Doesn't mean there wasn't a problem. Theres always a risks though, you cant worry about it all the time.

My 40Gb PS3 can get rather loud (no where near as loud as my 360 mind you, but still noticable) and I've noticed the BD drive is loud when it is accessing the disk, but only minor things really, overall the console runs relatively quietly. If you want a PS3, go for it! you won't regret it and don't worry about it failing on you, the chances of that happening are so small it it most likely won't happen. To the HDTV, well yeah the PS3 really shines on one, I only have a SDTV but I have mine hooked up to either my 24" widescreen monitor at 1080p or my 22" wide monitor at 720p and it looks amazing on both of them!
