New Tv for PS3

Recommended Posts

I want a new LCD for my PS3 and am concerned about ghosting

ive read that response time plays a role in ghosting but why do philips and sharp report 4 or 5 ms while sony and samsung report 8 on most lcds

also 120 hz does this really make a difference

ive also read that the bigger the tv the more likely you are to notice the ghosting

now i want a big tv but i dont want to sacrifice gaming quality

you guys know more about this than i do so which lcds should i be looking at

(cost doesnt matter)

120hz won't make a difference for gaming, they only accept 60hz signals and for games will either frame-double or will run at 60hz (game mode on the Samsung models).

I've done lots of reading because yesterday I bought a Samsung LCD (52 inch, 71f series - 120hz model). It should be arriving in the next couple hours, so I can post back if I see any problems. I'm not expecting to, though. Tons of people with it over on AVS Forum that don't have any ghosting, etc.

I have my PS3 (& 360 & Wii) hooked up to a 40" Sony Bravia (KDL-40XBR2). I dont notice any ghosting on it, I believe it has an 8ms response time. HD content looks great on it but SD from Dish looks pretty bad although I think that may be due to how compressed the single is.

I have a 26" Vizio LCD HDTV (VW26L) and I haven't noticed any ghosting since I got it in mid-November.

It is a great HDTV, bought it for $487 and it has been awesome.

I play my 360 on it all the time and the picture quality is great and like I said, no ghosting.

Oh and I also had my 360 plugged into my 42" Plasma downstairs and noticed no ghosting whatsoever.
