Karl
Heyyy, For the past 2 days my browsers been freezing like 10 every 10 seconds, for 10 seconds, then unfreezes for like 10 seconds then again, and again etc.. Any ideas what could cause it ? Nothings been installed recently. It works fine on the downstairs pc, and the internet connection is fine. I use Mozilla Firefox, but i tried Internet Explorer and the same thing happens. Any help is appreciated! Karl
Juts
To be honest it sounds like spyware/viruses. Run spybot search and destroy, and see how many processes are running from the task manager. You can also use msconfig from the start menu to see what programs are starting when you boot up.
Karl
The programs running when i boot are all safe, i know what they all are i run a spyware check and it deleted a few files but it's still doing it

Juts
I'm not sure. I've never liked norton very much, it can be quite a resource hog. :-/ sorry I wasn't much help

Steeley
I don't use Norton either, but maybe Norton is trying to run a scheduled scan or something. If you don't already, try leaving your computer on overnight to see if Norton will do what it has to do while you're sleeping.
sweetsam
It may be something caused by any ad blocking software you may have installed.
+allan MVC Posted December 30, 2007 MVC Share Posted December 30, 2007 I used NAV for many years until switching all my systems to Kaspersky a couple of years ago. In spite of its bloat (and I certainly agree it has become a recource hog) it's still one of the best AV's available. What you might want to do is open Task manager, click on the "Processes" tab, and then click on the CPU heading twice to sort on that column with highest usage at the top. When the browser freezes, see if anything is eating the cycles and let us know.
