TheNay
I got it and set it all up. It's awesome. That's all... That's all that matters ;) Better than a dead 360, lol I know 4 people locally where their 360 died on them within a yr, what a joke.

Brandon Live Veteran Posted January 5, 2008 Veteran Share Posted January 5, 2008 Uncharted is awesome. I didn't even play UT3 yet. I've been messing around with everything and getting it all set up so I probably only gamed for like 30 minutes. The graphics are good, but they seem totally different than the 360. It's hard to explain. Something about it is just completely different. I'm confused. There is no Uncharted for the 360...

Brandon Live Veteran Posted January 5, 2008 Veteran Share Posted January 5, 2008 He was comparing the experience of the 360 to the PS3. But he was clearly describing a scene from Uncharted. How can you compare a scene from one game against an entire system?
Cormier6083
But he was clearly describing a scene from Uncharted. How can you compare a scene from one game against an entire system? He was generally speaking. I think he noticed how games look different on the PS3 and how he gets a different feeling than playing a game on the 360. They don't have to be the same game, he's just saying how games on the PS3 give him different vibes.

Awesome Games: Uncharted: Drakes Fortune --------- Just an downright great game Call of Duty 4 -------------------------- Infinity Wards (thats all I have to say) Assassin's Creed ---------------------- Beautiful game, Graphics / UI = Great (Ubisoft Montreal - All I have to say) Edited January 5, 2008 by Zab

I guess you missed the part where i said... That's just my experience so far playing one game. I would have to compare the same game on both to really see if there is much difference. I would love to try some of the games that I already have on the 360 to compare to the ps3 but there's no way i'm gonna go buy the same games again, or even waste money renting them just to compare. Plus, no one I know even has a ps3 to borrow the games.

Call of Duty 4 is very similar, but if you played the 360 version you'll notice some settings turned down, one of them being anti-aliasing. TruckWEB
I was one of those guys. Got the Xbox360 the day it came out, after 4 months of red lights flashing at me I put it in the closet. A few months later I got my PS3 and havent looked back yet. 4 months, still under waranty, add the fact that Microsoft extended the waranties on X360... You could have made the effort to send it back for repair, no cost involved. Not a very bright comment....

StevoJD
You mean turned down on the PS3 version, right? Not to mention performance problems on the PS3. Yes, PS3 version has turned down AA, shadows are rough, and the textures don't seem as good. 360 version looks better, but so far I haven't noticed any slowdown or lag on the PS3 version, just online play doesn't work.... TDQuiksilver
Aside from the rough edges you've moaned about, I've yet to have any of the issues you mentioned. Online play has been just fine, lag free and a blast for sure. Game runs pretty damn smooth during single player (considering the massive fire fights no less). Maybe you're overexaggerating or just hard to please? Nitpicking every point of a game will never allow you to have any fun with it.

Well I've had COD4 for 3 days now and I haven't been able to join any matches at all online. Some people are also having trouble playing online. I was only comparing both versions, the PS3 version of COD4 looks great, but since the console is fairly new and its full potential hasn't been reached yet, so I could imagine Infinity Ward tried their best to make the port look as good as the 360 version. COD4 is just as good and just as fun on the PS3, the only thing that bothers me is that I can't get an online match going... :(

firen
You mean turned down on the PS3 version, right? Not to mention performance problems on the PS3. I have yet to experience any technical issues...although sometimes the game doesn't connect to a game but it is very rare. In fact it only happened to me twice in the months I have played it since its launch. A recent Eurogamer comparison states that there is no real difference. The great news is that both Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 owners get to experience the same superb gameplay with no compromises, the two versions essentially being completely interchangeable. Sure, there are a few minor variations here and there, if you can stop playing long enough to sit down, put both versions side-by-side and compare them carefully. There's the occasional better-looking texture on 360, offset by some more accomplished effects (like the rain in the cargo ship mission) and less blocky shadows on the PlayStation 3 rendition of the game. Of slightly more consequence is that the loading times on the PS3 game are noticeably longer: anything from 10 to 15 seconds longer compared to the same data being streamed in on Xbox 360. Brandon Live Veteran Posted January 6, 2008 Veteran Share Posted January 6, 2008 My only experience with COD4 on a PS3 was on a demo console at a Circuit City store. But I was not impressed with the hiccups / slowdown when there was a lot of on-screen action (explosions, etc) during the single-player campaign. I certainly wouldn't say it looked bad or unplayable, but definitely a lesser experience than the 360 version. The only games I've played at all so far on my PS3 have been the Heavenly Sword demo (which looks great during the cutscenes, and like ass during the game), and Ratch & Clank. R&C looks good, on par with many similar 360 games. Somehow feels a little "smoother" (looking, not performing) but less detailed than Kameo, for example. My roommate has played it a lot more and says he sees slowdown sometimes, but nothing really concerning.
+StevoFC MVC Posted January 6, 2008 Author MVC Share Posted January 6, 2008 I played UT3 for a good bit today. I only did single player though with bots to get used to the controls. I forgot how much I used to love to play UT. I think I'm gonna buy some usb extender cables and use a kb and mouse though to see how that goes. ienhz
welcome to the dark side ;) definitely pick up some of the games that audioboxer listed.when it comes to actually playing games online, the network holds up well. it doesn't have an integrated friends list/invite/messaging system though so it's not as good. however the newer games such as cod4 and ut3 are starting to implement these things within the game itself, so it's slooowly getting there. upside though is it's free, and i've been actually able to play games online the past week, unlike live. What the hell? So it's like the PS2 again where your friends lists are game specific?
sn00pie
ienhz, you have one friends list in the main xmb, its just you cannot message anyone while you play the games. you have to exit to message/invite or even view your friends list. for now atleast.... Oh yeah, great stuff you get for paying ^^

Huleboeren
I really can't understand why Sony wouldn't change this and make it more unified like Live. Ehh, it is unified? Just because you cant access it in game doesnt mean it isnt unified.. You have ONE friends list - whether you can access it in game is up to the developers (access as in through the game menus, not XMB) Sony said theyre working on it and I hope they bring ingame xmb out soon! Its been too long!!
