My browser experience

Just woke up (Sweden) and checked the Browser board. Read this topic and when I came to the first answer i felt my blood pressure rise to a dangerously high level.

Q: How do I get rid of the menu bar in FF?

A: You use an addon called Personal menu or Hide menu.

And don't get me wrong now, I really appreciate the question and answer, and i've got absolutely nothing against the two authors, it's the essence that makes my insanity rise. I mean, seriously!? When there's a need for an addon to remove a menu there must be something seriously wrong. I need to get a anger management course...

Radicalmms:

Yeah, that's true, i've never thought of the lack of "backup" options. In Firefox there is (afterall) an extension called FEBE that does just that... Do you all think i'm being contradictive? Yes, I am. However, that's kind of the point of this topic.

yea i agree... what hide menubar offers should be included by default by firefox, no question...

but what personal menu offers is to replace the entire toolbar into a single button.

again man, us firefox users are fine with these things... extensions have to be the highlight of firefox. sure some simple things like hiding the menubar shouldn't need the extension, but its nothing when you are used to it.

with that said, i have difficulty trying to customize opera... which is one of the reasons why i can't use opera as a primary browser. i find that opera doesn't offer complete customizations that firefox offers.

No, of course Dynames00. Like you said earlier, you shouldn't force Firefox to behave like Opera, nor the other way around. Opera IS more rigid, more stiff, less customizable, but at the same time more thought through (wow, difficult to pronounce) out of the box. I'm really fond of the customizability (another difficult one) of Firefox, but some things just feels ridiculous, and this makes me frustrated. Especially when i read at different boards and no one seems to get as disturbed as I :) However, the greatest draw back still is the lag and the cache, hopefully this will be solved to v.3.0. I'm thinking of installing the beta, but I'm concerned about the extensions compatibility. After all, I still want FF to resemble Opera as of now :p
