terrabyte1000
Ok I got my playstation back in like september and i really like racing games. Now I get the whole online community thing that there going for and it's not that i don't like it because I do I've made friends all over the world racing online BUT WHERE THE HELL IS THE SPLIT SCREEN I use to be able to chill with my friends (in the same place) and race each other it was fun to have little competitions between friends also not all my friends are hardcore gamers therefor they're not going to spend $500+ on a system plus a game just to race me once in a while so here is an idea for a FREE ADD ON multiplayer split screen AND YES FREE i don't think i should have to pay for something that has been included in almost every racing game created before the ps3 What does everyone else think? Harreh
I don't think it had split screen because the system can't handle rendering two different POVs at once. Or if it could, the graphics would have to be toned down and the developers probably thought that it had to be stunted too much to bother including it. PinkShirtGuy
You could try something with a lan. I know you'd have to have another console, screen, possibly another game, but i don't really see split screen coming out for any non cartoony kart games. Peter Lyon
i second harreh, as much as the ps3 is one of the most powerful consoles out, its not a supercomputer, they're pushing it to its limit as is. your post also destroys my only (Emphasis on MY) reason to get a ps3, being able to play with friends in the same room. Theres only like....3 consoles? :s Already pushed it to the limit? I think not - its just getting started.. Compare a PS2 game which just came out and one that came out when the PS2 was released. They will look worlds apart.. This goes for all consoles - they still have a helluva lot power to go ^^
andrew_f
A good example to backup Huleboeren's point about games using more power as they go along. Look at the lighting details between these two and also the general graphical improvements, especially the amount of things on screen at a time and the general smoothness of things. SSX - Released 2000 SSX: On Tour - Released 2005 As developers become more confident and experienced with a developing on a console the games use more of the console's potential. The PS3 has not peaked yet and don't expect it to for a good few years. These things take time.
terrabyte1000
well i really hope the games were playing now are not pushing the system to its limits because while they are a definate improvement over the previous generation graphically i don"t think there going to be able coast on these accomplishments for another 5-7 years to put it simply the games are going to have to evolve to keep the interest of the mass market will you be satisfied with these graffix in 5 years and games have already started to improve compare motorstorm to juiced 2, pro street, dirt then compare those to grand turismo i think they have a long way to go so in conclusion i don't think split screen in racing games is asking too much i can't remember any ps2 titles without it i think it should be a standard feature in all racing games just as much as wheels are
