PiracyX
I am originally waiting for the new Dual Shock 3 controllers to come over here in the UK, but you can already import them from Japan. Does anyone know if they work on a UK PS3? or do you have to wait until they come here? I know they are not in US yet. If anyone can shed some light on this. PiracyX
Play-Asia are selling them cheaper, but still quite expensive. I guess you would also get hit with import charges.

Coldgunner
ebay is probably the best bet? most sellers mark it as gifts and it'll sail through customs easier.
houlty
i got one from yesasia around a week after they were first released. and it works perfectly on my uk ps3. unfortunately there are only a few games i have that support it. of the games i have tried so far, only uncharted and super stardust hd support it. cod4 could be good with it, but as yet a patch with rumble hasnt been released. also, like you may of read, they are a little heavier which i like better. and, mine at least seems to be made of better materials (ie my normal black sixaxis when held up to the light is kinda transparent, whereas the dualshock is not). edit: and i didnt get charged import taxes. i dont know if thats luck or not though... ReAnimation
As the other guys say the dual shock 3's will work. They may not sync up right away out of the box, if they don't just hook up the Dual Shock 3 to the PS3 with a USB cable, once the pad's been assigned a controller number unplug it again. The PS3 will know that your using a dual shock 3 as when you hit the Playstation button on the controller in game you'll get an additional option to turn the rumble off. With regards to games that support rumble, a lot of games have been patched to add rumble - Resistance, Motorstorm, Heavenly Sword, F1:CE and Folklore have all received patches adding rumble. 3rd party developers don't seem to be adding rumble at all though sadly. Some new games are also coming out with rumble support - Ratchet & Clank and Uncharted all rumble out of the box. I was really lucky getting a couple of dual shock 3's. A friend at work has a friend in Japan, he bought a few Dual shock 3's and sent them over to us. I think they only ended up costing around ?20 each. Digitalx
it's based on firmware, with latest firmware they should work with games compatible with it yes.

Both of my sixaxis are transparent too, but yesterday I saw my friend's sixaxis was totally black and wasn't transparent at all. I was under the impression that there were a lot of games compatible with rumble!

I think the 40GB controller and the Dual Shock 3 are all black and the 60GB, 80GB are transparent. I prefer the all black one.
morficus
bluetooth can not be localized... so if it works on one PS3 it will work on them all
Xero
I hadn't even noticed mine were transparent, then again I don't hold my controllers up at the light very much. I wonder if they just switched to a different model after the initial release. Anyone know if the dualshock 3 is much heavier than the original? Nightz
Anyone know if the dualshock 3 is much heavier than the original? i wouldn't say it's much heavier, but you definitely notice the difference, and the weight feels just right on the ds3. it really feels good to have some weight to the controller, unlike the sixaxis. Xero
I think the weight would help a lot when trying to steer or use the sixaxis features. How would you compare its weight to the PS2 controller? less, more or about the same?
Nightz
unfortunately i sold my ps2 long before i got my dualshock3 controllers, so i can't really make an accurate comparison. honestly i forgot how the dualshock2's felt after using the sixaxis for a while. i'm sure one of the other people who still have their dualshock2 can give you an answer. Bhav
As some have mentioned above, the DS3 is made with an opaque shell so you can't see that little bit of light through it like you can with the sixaxis.
