PS3 title LittleBigPlanet to sprout at CES 2008

Sony Corp. next week will showcase game titles for the Playstation 3 computer entertainment system at CES 2008 in Las Vegas, NV, including the innovative offering LittleBigPlanet.

The official Sony CES 2008 website features LittleBigPlanet, Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, and the Playstation Eye as products to be displayed at the annual consumer electronics show.

LittleBigPlanet was last displayed in July 2007 at the E3 Media & Business Summit 2007 in Santa Monica, CA.

The title will allow players to explore and solve puzzles, and share modified levels with Playstatin Network members.

Uncharted: Drake's Fortune is an action adventure title released in Nov. 2007. The title is an original IP that allows players to blast enemies and explore exotic locations.

The Playstation Eye is a USB camera peripheral launched with the title The Eye of Judgment in Oct. 2007. A software set called EyeCreate was released to the Playstation Network to allow users to create and share videos.

To date, PS3 sales have been lower-than-expected due to average game library and high retail cost. The hardware has shipped more than five million units worldwide compared to Nintendo Co.?s Wii at 13.2 million units and Microsoft Corp.?s Xbox 360 at 13.4 million units.

Sony in Oct. recorded a 96.7 billion yen loss in the game division that was offset by a quarterly profit from strong electronics sales.

No word on Home?

People are starting the rumour mill that Home will debut at CES in a form that will allow the open beta to follow.... this is spurred on by Jack Trettons comments of a Q1 beta and

Gaming

Excited to see all the latest and greatest video game products at the 2008 International Consumer Electronics Show? Don't be. New and noteworthy gaming products will be few and far between.

Unfortunately, CES just isn't a big show for gamers. You might think the world's largest consumer electronics expo would have plenty of stuff for remote-waggling, button-mashing misfits like ourselves, but that simply isn't the case. Virtually every games-only company from Nintendo to Electronic Arts steers clear of Las Vegas in early January, saving their news for GDC, E3, and the various other shows and events that come later in the year.

Sony PlayStation Home is expected to debut at CES.

CES won't be completely devoid of gaming content, though. While nearly all major game developers will be conspicuously absent, you can expect a solid amount of spillover from the big two: Sony and Microsoft. While actual game news tends to be minimal, both giants tend to use CES to highlight the broader consumer applications of their respective gaming consoles. Sony will continue to tout the PS3's Blu-ray compatibility and upcoming Second Life-like PlayStation Home service, while Microsoft will highlight the Xbox 360's ever-improving media-centre capabilities.

When is LBP coming out? I think I'll be getting a PS3 just for this game :p

Never really had a set release date...

Was rumoured to be october 08 late last year, now as posted today ( https://www.neowin.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=611035 ) it's been hit with a date of april.

Nothing confirmed though, so speculation until further announcement really :/
