Sony needs to merge their divisions.

Recommended Posts

Im my opinion i really think Sony needs to merge their PS3 divisions to compete with XBL.

I mean you have people in America, Europe, Australia and Japan all receiving different download content from the PSN.

PAL PS3 owners getting ripped off the most considering we STILL WAITING FOR COD4 patch so we can play online properly. AND WHERE IS THE NEED FOR SPEED ULTIMATE BUNDLE HUH???? WHERE!!!!!!????

It just seems like a logical smart business decision to merge some divisions in order to really compete against what Xbox Live offers so that all Playstation owners around the world receive updates/demos/video etc at the same time.

Im still really pi**ed off that I cant connect to hardly any games on COD4 cause SCEE (Sony Computer Entertainment Europe) has to authorize the patch.

I cant beleive I got a PS3 and COD4 for christmas and I STILL CANT PLAY IT ONLINE. Thanks Sony you dumb f**ks.

Get your act together Sony im getting really annoyed at favoritism and complete STUPIDITY.

its not that straighforward. each territory has to have distribution rights etc sorted, which can take a while to sort. also things like downloadable games need to be adapted to support 576i PAL TV's. There is also the languages issues, in europe they need to translate it to each of the major languages before release.

yes we should have the cod4 patch by now, that does annoy me. Also, Xbox live is regional too, Europe only got the downloadable tv and movies last month whereas the US had it for 6 months.

Its the distribution rights that are the major hold up.

Those are all just excuses. You cant expect kiddies to contemplate these things! They must have what they want or throw their toys out of the pram.

Microsoft must do it how this guy demands or they will suffer

That is true, and the way Sony do it just now the only viable option would be to delay all releases till each one is ready.

Now don't get me wrong, 100% effort probably isn't being put into getting every game localized quickly anyway - In the sense that it should be done hell of a lot quicker than it is.

Definitely something that needs work, but at least Sony don't care about multi accounts on each PS3 for each region - They even went and rectified the Uncharted USA demo issues on PAL TV's so we could download and play it earlier

I expect to see quicker releases in 2008 (Y) - I can appreciate some small delays in regions, but not weeks and months

I guess Im really just annoyed that I cant play Call of Duty 4 online without a 20 min wait only to connect to a slow server.

All I want is the connection patch released for everyone so I can play it.

The patch is done we are just waiting for Sony Europe to say its OK and release it. SCEA (America) released it with no stuffing around.

When it comes to a critical update that will fix online connectivity, Sony really should not delay this. They are being stupid.

If it doesnt find a server within 30seconds then I cancel - and retry

What? USA have had Movie Marketplace since November 2006.

But yes I agree with the topic starter. Sony need to step up and merge their music label and movie label to PSN. And yes although Video store has only been available for a month in Europe and doesn't offer everything USA does, it's not even an area MS were involved in until recent years. Everything else like demos and arcade games are world wide, except when it comes to all those rules of content, in countries which don't allow red blood etc etc. That's really out the hands of both MS and Sony.
